Caribou Coffee — Restaurant in Rochester

As of this morning, I will no longer be a customer and I will no longer be recommending this place to others.

I used to go here all the time for one of my go to breakfast items: A bacon, egg, and cheese on Sesame with 2 eggs. I would recommend the place to others who were looking to find a good breakfast.

This is no longer the case.

About a month ago, they changed their breakfast menu. Upon arrival this morning, I asked for my usual and was told that it only comes on a plain bagel, with one egg. I even offered to buy a sesame bagel separately if they would make the sandwich with it. A bagel store that doesn't let you choose your own bagel send absurd to me.

If this were just a coffee shop that served limited prepackaged options, then fine. But you are Caribou and Einstein, Coffee and Bagels. You used to pride yourself on fresh cracked eggs with a choice of 1 or 2, and your wide selection of bagels. Why the sudden about face to very limited choice?

To be fair, the staff here are excellent and I would give them 5 stars. Unfortunately, they now have to deal with disappointed customers, and they have not been told why the sudden change in direction. They have only been told that they can no longer make customised orders.

Please go back to the way things were. Let people choose from the large selection of bagels. Almost every drive through food vendor let's you customize your order, and they've done it for the last 30+ years because it was a good business model. The coffee that my husband and I ordered was excellent. However, be wary if you are paying in cash! We bought two coffees totaling a little over $11 and my husband paid with a $50 bill and got $8.13 in change??!

Another girl came to the drive-thru window to try to correct the problem after my husband pointed out that we were owed more money back

Eventually my husband went inside to correct the problem properly... It's a nice location and they do really make great coffee.

Just make sure you count your change.

The young lady that originally gave us the incorrect change first denied that we gave her a $50 bill, and when it was proven that we did indeed pay with a $50 bill she did not even apologize.... In fact, she acted like we were inconveniencing her. Someone should check the attitude of their employees.

The other young lady that eventually corrected the problem was very nice, and was worried about losing her job if the till was incorrect... She did Apologize. But she wasn't the one that made the problem in the...

The first sandwich I ordered here was a turkey sandwich on a bagel. It took about 15 minutes in the drive-thru and when I drove off and took my first bite, it had the plastic/paper lining still on the slice of cheese. Okay, it could have just been a fluke and people make mistakes when they're hurrying. BUT after about a month I tried again .... This time I waited a long time again in the drive-thru (there was no one in front of me) and what's worse is after taking the first bite... I realized the turkey sandwich had rotten brown slimy lettuce on the sandwich. Not just a little piece, ALL of it was disgusting and rotten. So someone actually made that sandwich with that lettuce deliberately??... I will never return here, which is a shame since it's so close to my workplace and would have been convenient for lunch.
