My rating for the Domino's in Rochester, NH is a solid 4 stars, and here's why. Let's be clear upfront: if it were earlier in the day, say before 9 or 10 PM,
I would 100% be heading to Charlie's or another one of Rochester's fantastic local pizza establishments. The pizza at Domino's, while consistently hot and edible, isn't what I'd call "best" in town. It's a chain pizza, and it tastes like a chain pizza – perfectly acceptable, but it doesn't have that unique, often superior, flavor or crust you get from a local pizzeria that prides itself on its craft.
And the price? Honestly, it's not cheap at all, especially when you compare it to the value and quality offered by independent shops. You can easily spend a decent chunk of change on a couple of pies and some sides, and for that money, I'd rather support a local business and get a truly great pizza. However, the reason Domino's earns such a strong rating from me comes down to one crucial factor: their hours. In Rochester, once the clock ticks past a certain hour, the options for hot food dwindle rapidly.
Many of the beloved local spots close up relatively early. But Domino's consistently remains open very late, often until 1 AM or 2 AM, especially on weekends. This extended availability is an absolute lifesaver when you're hit with a late-night craving, coming home from an event, or just need something quick and easy when everything else is closed. So, while the pizza itself isn't a culinary revelation and the price point isn't a bargain, the sheer convenience and reliability of having a hot pizza option available when most other places are dark makes the Rochester Domino's invaluable. It's not my first choice, but it's the undisputed champion of late-night pizza runs in this town, and for that, it deserves...
Read moreMy go-to order is a carryout order to get the 6.99 pizzas with 2 toppings. I always get a Hawaiian pizza for my wife, which has a massive amount of pineapple 🍍 and ham. It really looks delicious and my wife loves it!! My go-to pizza is a medium sausage and onion pizza. Some times there're 4 chunks of sausage and barely an onion. I regularly have to call to tell them that my sausage/onion pizza is very short on sausage, not even one piece of sausage on all 6 pieces of pizza, and there are fewer onions than sausage. I call every time. I tell them that the toppings should be comparable to the Hawaiian pizza. Every time, they credit me a pizza. Then I tell my wife we are never ordering from Domino's again.
But that 6.99 deal for 2 pizzas draws us back. Even though they comp me a pizza bc they get it wrong, I still go back. It's not that the pizza tastes bad , it's that there are VERY few toppings compared to my wife's pizza. Onions cost next to nothing compared to 🍍 and ham. I don't get it. Hey guys, please make it...
Read moreTried to order online but the system froze and kicked me out. Tried to start a new order but the website told me to call instead. Called the location, phone rang for 4 minutes. No pickup. Called again, waited for another two. Figured they were just super busy and they'd get to me eventually. No answer. We were already on our way, so we figured we'd just order in the store. We walk in the store to hear that the phone had just been taken OFF THE HOOK and that's how they dealt with the high volume. While we were waiting in line we could hear the people in the back whining about the orders they had to do. When we finally got to the front we were rudely informed that they weren't taking any more orders, only pick-ups we're being serviced. I recognize the labor shortage that were in but that's no way to treat any customer. Just tell me there's a 3 hour wait or something. Don't waste my time because you couldn't...
