IHOP — Restaurant in Rochester

My guess is that I went at a bad time.

It seemed understaffed as it was 10+ minute wait for my table to simply get a cup of coffee. Even then the manager had to bring it to us. Also, if I would have know it'd be nearly $3 per person to get coffee... I'd have just gotten water. However I wonder now if the water would have had the dishwater aftertaste like the coffee.

My mother is in a wheelchair and they initially wanted to seat us at a booth... with her parked in the aisle, and we had to request an actual table.

My sister was given a table setting without a fork, which is actually funny because it seems to be a theme that whenever we go out, she is missing some form of cutlery.

The food was interesting. My sister and mother both got hash-browns with their meals and the outsides were properly cooked, but my sister and mother both mentioned the insides being cold.

I had ordered an omelette, with pepperjack cheese and I think they gave me Swiss cheese. Not only that, the bottom was coated in crispy remains of what I think was potatoes, making question how clean the grill may have been, and oddly enough, the outside was relatively cool and the middle was luke warm indicating it'd been sitting for a while before being served.

To me I felt that they were a bit understaffed and the crew was stressed trying to keep everyone happy and so certain things fell to the wayside - so I didn't say anything to the staff.

Somehow though, some eggs and potatoes, coffee, and a few pancakes totaled $45 for 3 people. I blame the cost of coffee. Me personally, and a recommendation to IHOP - maybe have $3 per carafe for a group.

I'm going to try again in the future, maybe at a slower time because the 11am b-fast rush may have...

We managed to go on the off peak moment before a rush - we've waited for a seat before, today was no rush, no wait, for a seat. The waitress was friendly enough, but the time between getting or drinks and menus, to the time we were ready to order seemed to be a long time - compared to when the order was taken and the food came, we waited longer for the initial orders to be taken. We definitely got our orders, and had our fill, but it seemed like we did have minimal time with her, when she came around. Not really a complaint, just an observation, if she hadn't left the extra carafe of coffee, she would have been sought; go, the food is edible, the company is what You make it, but don't expect to see the waitress if You do have a need/concern, if we didn't like the food, I'm still not sure she'd have stuck around to hear that answer either. She was pleasant, but didn't expect the long wait for the second time, and the fly by check in, she lingered longer for the check than for any other time. Food was good, will come back, just caught me off guard for how absent the staff was during a lull. I still can't get over the small bug I swatted away while eating, and that kind of bothers me, but I know flies are insidious and sneak in on others, given it was small, and I saw one, I figured that it must have traveled in on someone - but I took the rest of my food 'to go'. For $30, and two meals, I'll come back, but...

Was told we had a 30 min wait so we waited. When it got too hot with. All the kids waiting outside we decided at the 30 min mark we went and sat inside to wait where we were told we weren't allowed to wait inside. So back out side with 4 sweaty kids. Finally after 50 mins was able to be seated thank goodness I was weary and thirsty. It took 10 mins to get our drinks and 45 mins to get our food. Appetizer came w. Our meals and the only thing warm was the hash browns. We saw our waitress 3 times hubbys meal was wrong and than missing food. I had to ask for syrup twice before asking another waitress no marinera after we ordered a platter that needed it and wasn't told until it came to the table. It was cold anyways. Inotderrr the chicken fajita omelette that was completely flavorless. we sat waiting for our check for too long. Finally ready to go and the waiting room is full of guests.. When my family was made to wait outside for an hour because the waiting room was closed?? I almost got loud. My son has autism and we had to wait outside in the blistering heat for an hour so it made no sense why when we left the waiting area was some how open. Never coming here again. Newington location is 100x better. We love IHOP and go regular. Never this...
