La Familia — Restaurant in Rock Falls

Walked in with my girlfriend to a desolate restaurant- except for a cook eatting at one of the back booths and walking away without a word said to us. Sat at the booth for 15mins before seeing a server or even receiving a menu... Then, finally after about 30mins, got our food and my girlfriend has not one, but 2 black hairs wrapped around her guacamole, so it was an easy spot. We sat there for 10 more minutes while she waited for the server to come back, only for it to be not our server xD The attendant almost didn't want to take the food away after my gf stated she didn't want a recook.. 15 mins later, she brought a re-cook back.. We had clearly already lost our appetites, but they brought the order back anyways.. And charged us for it when we didn't even touch it.. I received a total of 2 refills while my gf, having water, only received that one glass the whole time.. In conclusion, can confirm- NO BUENO. Worst restaurant...

Good food overall, this visit wasnt quite as good, had marinated steak for first time last week that was flavorful, however it was dry which made it chewy instead of tender, and was served with no juice/sauce on plate or on side which would have helped. Everything else so far has been very good and I recommended thier chips and homemade salsa, the Guacamole is made fresh to order and delicious but you will likely need to add a little salt & pepper as its served unseasoned which we actually prefer so we can adjust ourselves as needed, and dont forget to ask for lime ! If I had to pick one thing, I'd say make sure your meat is not dry if getting Carnes Asada...and cosmetically update the interior for those dining in, but it is ok, just a lil cheapish to me, but thats part of the charm I guess and that does not diminish the quality of the food...the food is good and worth it.. so go enjoy a reasonably priced meal served...

We showed up around 745pm on Friday. They were semi busy but there were still tables. Got seated right away. Our waiter was great. Was really thorough. We got our food. We didn't think it took very long at all. We were chatting anyways. The food was AMAZING!!!!! I'm so very picky about my food, like finding little things wrong. But not in this case. The salsa was made to perfection. Homemade chips. Our burritos were so very good! Absolutely nothing to complain about. The owner came to our table and apologized for the food being late. Which we didn't think it was. He brought out an entire coffee cake and gave it to us! I was astonished at how this man treats his customers. You sir are the absolute BEST!
