I travel to rock island monthly on business and my favorite spot of all time closed down(RIP El Mexicano) so I’m looking for a new favorite Mexican joint to get my beloved authentic carnitas tacos. I found this cute little place and thought I’d give it a try. The building looked nice on the outside, if not a little old. Inside was clean, bright, colorful and had a variety of ethnicities here to chow down, which is always nice to see. The employees were all very nice and catered to me even though I don’t think I was supposed to seat myself and paid before waiting for my check, my bad! I ordered my “norm” three carnitas tacos with lettuce onion and cilantro. While I was waiting some chips and HOT salsa/sauce was delivered to me. It was great! The chips seemed fresh and crunchy and the hot sauce was spot on with flavor and heat. I was also delivered a soup. It looked like a chicken noodle but had a tomatoey broth. It was good but I was all about the chips. Then my meal comes. The tacos looked great and they weren’t shy on heaping the ingredients. They were wrapped in 2 soft corn shells and didn’t break apart upon picking them up (which will make me never come back if that happens) This is where I had some disappointment, the carnitas meat had clearly sat out all day, it had a darker, dried out look meat gets when sat out and it had that funky taste from being old. It tasted good while eating it, if not a little greasy and stringy from age but the after taste of old meat is something I just hate. On my drive back to my hotel I couldn’t wait to brush the taste off my tongue. So long story short, I had to take a star away due to the meat having sat out too long and the greasiness that resulted. Sorry Old Mexico, I may try you again for lunch and see if that changes my mind but I probably won’t visit...

My family and I came in for lunch today, upon entering the restaurant we noticed a lunch sign that specifically states from 11am-3pm (no days). We all had made up our minds on which lunch item we wanted to get since it was a great deal. Once we started ordering we were told it was only a M-F special and it was on their “other menu” that we did not have. That was a bummer but the prices aren’t to crazy so we decided on the steak taco salad and carnitas with rice and beans. Once our food arrived to the table we immediately knew something was way off with the carnitas.. it looked canned, rubbery & not fresh whatsoever. It was in cubed chunks and I'm convinced it was not even real meat. After one bite we asked to replace it with a different menu item. Unfortunately my fiancé had already lost his appetite and was completely disappointed in what was just served to him he decided to not get anything at all. My steak taco salad was not what I expected.. the steak was so burnt and made the entire bowl of food taste charred I could only bare to take 2-3 bites. We decided to let our boys finish their kids meals and we headed out. We will not be returning sadly. I’ve never been to a restaurant and had to go to another place just to eat after because the food was...

Just argued with a server who stayed on her phone barely acknowledged my daughter and I sitting at a table next to the register where she was. After sitting for at least 3 minutes the guy who was cleaning tables, spraying chemicals and sweeping without gloves also took our order, served our drinks and food while she still stood behind the register on her phone. Upon finishing our food and approaching the register to pay she asked how was everything? I told her how rude she was and that the cleaner shouldn’t be serving food and cleaning without washing his hands or having gloves on, she lied and said he did when he went from cleaning straight to pouring our drinks and serving us chips and salsa and eventually our food! She said it was his turn to serve, that’s how she was trained, stormed off to the bathroom, slammed the door and left our sever to finish...

I was craving posole or Menudo and I was told to come here. This place did not disappoint! I got the well served menudo, perfect for this change of weather. It is served with 3 warm delicious tortillas that taste like corn, not those sweet white ones. Comes with lime, onion, cilantro and oregano on the side as well. It has that old school grandma taste for sure. I’ll be back, great menudo is hard to find 😋

Food was terrible! Had taco salad and the flour bowl was burnt and could not eat. Asked for one that was not burnt and was told they are all the same because they make them in the morning and refry as needed. Asked them if I could get a couple of flour tortilla and they were even worse! Was told it is just "hit or miss " on what you get. Will never go back! Used to be our favorite.

i ordered 2 quesabirria tacos, a soda, rice & beans. Spent $20 with tip! The tacos were amazing and of course there were complimentary chips and salsa. You seat yourself and i didn’t have to wait long before my order was taken. I went around 515pm on a Tuesday. Will return and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some good mexican food 😇
