I tried to find a small meal in downtown Moline. I found a brewery, a pizza joint and an ale house. The ale house closed early because the bartender didn't like waiting for no one to show up. I visited the Rebel & Lion Brewing Company, connected to the Bad Boy'z Pizza Joint. The menu listed pizza, calzones and hot wings, not very round fare. So I hoped for concessions at the outdoor theater. I hoped in vain.
The Shakespeare play seemed more like a lecture, trying to find traces of a man called Shakespeare in the language he used. I am sure I will enjoy it more when I read it in print. A narrator and five actors performed the work. However, many lines couldn't be heard over the booming of fireworks blasting off before sundown. I was also distracted by the scent of maybe a hundred different barbecues around the neighborhoods.
I know that they will bring to the stage a play by Euripides next. Maybe I'll find myself in the Quad Cities, looking for an educational and entertaining experience. I enjoyed sitting in Lincoln Park, watching the Sun fade on the stout trunks of the old oaks. Any reason to enjoy that kind of moment makes for a good reason.
