Pizza Ranch — Restaurant in Rock Rapids

This location has a new manager. I deleted my previous review because it no longer applies. This happened around September 2023.

I have eaten there a couple times since the reopening and it is much better than it used to be. The chicken is very good and I hope things will remain this way.

Eating too much fried chicken isn't a healthy choice, but eating fried chicken a few times per month is a treat rather than a bad habit. The other items are also good. There is ice again for the included soda that is part of the buffet price. There is ice cream which is a nice desert anytime of year.

Knowing what toppings are on the pizzas on the buffet would be a welcome addition instead of a taste and toss approach. Being able to order any pizza to be placed on the buffet is amazing.

Kyle is friendly and helpful with all my questions. If I still owned a business, I would hire him. It is difficult to find dedicated employees.

The best place in town for a great meal.

This Pizza Ranch location is the best. Today, I asked them to make a sweet chili pizza with a skillet crust. Fantastic is how I would describe this pizza and my experience. The restaurant with Kyle leading it is a shining star in Rock Rapids.

UPDATE 3-1-2024 The Pizza Ranch serves fish now. Today, I became painfully aware of this fact. I won't be able to eat there anymore. I should be able to eat the Pizza. This was our second visit in as many weeks. Our experience was basically the same each time. We arrived a few minutes before 7:00 and ordered the buffet that was due to close at 7:30. After we paid we went to view what was available and we found a number of choices that all looked like they'd been setting out for too long. Nothing fresh or hot. Shortly after, one new pizza was brought out so we jumped on it. Other people were still coming in and buying the buffet so that pizza was quickly gone. We fully expected more fresh pizzas would be coming so we waited. Soon it was 7:30 and nothing had come out yet! Some time after they shut the warming lights off. The buffet was closed. Two times in a row!! We tried it again after the first disaster only because we had complained the first time and were promised they would give us our money back in the form of credit on our Ranch Reward card. Visiting from out of state and decided to stop at a familiar place to get something to eat. Parking lot was empty, but it was also between noon and supper times. We were greeted when we came in by a nice gal. We ordered cheese sticks which were nice and fresh, 2 piece chicken dinner and 2 salads. The salad bar needed to be flipped and freshened up but had plenty of food stocked in it. From looking at the outside of the chicken it looked well done but when it was split open with a fork it was looked like it hasn’t had t even had any heat and was definitely raw. The employee told us that they put marinara sauce on it and that’s what it looks like after it’s cooked and it gets into the chicken.
