Cedar Rock Grill — Restaurant in Rock Valley

Wow! This place is a gem in the Midwest. We drove about 40 minutes to eat here the first time and we weren't let down at all. First off the decor is very Country inspired and well done. My one and only complaint are the booths being rather uncomfortable for a long sit down dining experience. The staff is very friendly and given the fact that all places these days are understaffed, they are still take good care of their guests. Now on to the Wow part. We chose the 2 meals for $25 option and both ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger as our entree. I chose the Sweet Potato fries (waffle cut) as my side. They use Angus Beef and let me tell you I haven't EVER had a burger so delicious in my 55 years. I don't know what they do with that Angus Beef 1/2 lb. burger but it deserves a standing ovation. The Sweet Potato fries were also the best I have ever had. So, although we live some 35 miles away, it won't be the last time we treat ourselves to Cedar Rock Grill. I can't wait to try the Ribs. The Pork Chop was excellent. Server was nice but definitely needed some more training. I only write in hopes they see it and train there severs a bit better. Didnt see any active managers to talk to before i left other then a bunch of nice kids doing there best! I was served my dinner. A server typically would come back a short time later and ask if "everything is ok", "hows the food tasting", "do you need anything else" kinda thing. That never happened. Had she came back I would have asked for butter for my bun. She also missed a sale. My beer ran out towards the end of my 25 minute sit down dinner. Cedar Rock is one of my favorite restaurants! They’re food is delicious, and the waitstaff is friendly!! One of my favorite parts about coming here is the homemade bread pudding!! It is delicious so make sure you save room for some!! The coffee they make is also amazing. It is a Dutch brand called Douwe Egberts and has a delicious flavor. The best part about the coffee is that it is free with any meal for those 60 and older (I am not Dutch nor am I 60 and older but the coffee is still delicious).
