We were camping at Turkey Run and decided to head to town and get breakfast.. of course we did a Google search; With in seconds Aaronâs on the Square appeared and after a quick glance at the menu we knew this was the place to get that hometown cooking! When we pulled up we found a a cute little store front nestled next to a antique store and tons of out door seating. The outside was clean and perfectly decorated in red, white, and blue. When you enter into Aaronâs you feel like you have been transported back to your hometown. The atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and decorated in that rustic farmhouse style. As you head towards the center of the building not only will you find a colorful, organized, and good variety of a menu, you will be greeted by one of the owners Mr. Homie! (that is seriously his last name!!) He will welcome you in with a genuine big smile while giving you the daily specials and even some small talk for free.. just a part of the hospitality you will get while dining at their breakfast tables. After chatting with Aaron we had all ordered and were excited to get our grub.. oh btw when you order coffee you get a tin dish with your mug and spoon⌠how cute?! It wasnât long before Lisa had our delicious breakfast hot and ready and of course Aaron served it right to our table. My husband and I got the breakfast bagels.. wow is all I can say; Buttered and toasted to perfection!! We devoured our breakfast along with our friends who had Western omelette and fried eggs, again nothing short of amazing. We left with our bellies full and that feeling you get when you just arrived home after a long long time away⌠Aaron and Lisa you put the ROCK...
Read moreIf you're coming through to Turkey Run or Shades or Raccoon Lake from Indy this is a must stop for any meal.
We got lunch after a hike at the lake and it was terrific. Exactly like the supper clubs your parents or grandparents may have been familiar with. The waitress knows everyone and it's super popular with the locals.
The lunch special was $9.99 for 4 pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, garlic bread, and a trip to the salad bar. While the sides were good, they weren't something you'd write home about. But that chicken. Oh man. The best. It took me back to when I was about 8 and my great aunt made chicken at her house. And there was plenty of it, so much we saved two pieces and had them for dinner.
My wife had the catfish and fries. They looked good and she said the fish was light, flaky, and well fried. I couldn't tell you, I was too focused on the chicken.
After we finished we walked around to the bar in the back. There's a full bar, pool tables, and a stage. If I was camping at Raccoon Lake I'd definitely have a few beers here and walk back to the tent.
A really cool spot and...
Read moreSo many positive reviews, so we were so hopeful for a great local lunch stop. My family of 5 ordered from the apathetic kid behind the counter, who got the order wrong, then sent the ticket back to the kitchen, warning the cook "big order!" The burgers came out in about 20 minutes and were completely cold before the 2 personal pizzas came out, 10 minutes later. We were the only customers in the place and had to go to the counter to ask for things several times (utensils, condiments ). The food was atrocious. There's no other way to say it. It was school cafeteria level food. We considered the possibility that the rubber hamburger patties were just microwaved to a slight warm. They still had manufacturing/processing marks on them and zero seasoning. The buns were toasted crispy like a cracker, yet somehow still not burnt. The cheese on the pizzas wasn't fully melted. Even teenage boys didn't bother finishing them.
I don't usually just shred a business in a review like this, but this was exceptionally terrible. We left not angry, but confused as to how a place like this could even be...
