On a Wednesday evening, my boyfriend and I had dinner at Yirasai Sushi, which used to be located in Bethesda but relocated to Park Potomac in April 2022.

For drinks, my boyfriend enjoyed an Asahi while I enjoyed hot Japanese green tea.

For dinner, we shared a Sunomono Salad, Yakisoba with Chicken, Hawaiian Sunset Roll, and Seafood Combo Tempura Roll. Our order came with two Miso Soups and a House Salad with a ginger dressing.

The Sunomono consisted of cucumber salad, shrimp, octopus, and crab served in a sweet vinegar sauce topped with seaweed salad.

The Yakisoba consisted of pan grilled thin Japanese noodles stirfried with assorted vegetables and chicken breast in a Yakisoba sauce made with a Japanese 7-spice blend. It reminded my boyfriend of the Yakisoba he had in Japan.

The Hawaiian Sunset Roll consisted of a crab and cucumber roll topped with salmon, avocado, and crushed pineapple. I discovered that I love pineapple on sushi!

The Seafood Combo Tempura Roll consisted of a roll stuffed with an assortment of seafood (including salmon, crab, shrimp, and red snapper) tempura and finished with an eel sauce drizzle.

Towards the end of our meal, each of us received complimentary Soybean roll, which consisted of a beancurd wrapped avocado roll topped with a spicy mayo and tempura bits.

By the end of our meal, our stomachs were satisfied. However, our server gave us our check before asking if we...

All rice, Was heading to a sushi place I frequent, but saw this place on the way and decided to dine in and try something new. Staff was friendly and the place was quaint with soothing music. Ordered an assortment of rolls we usually get, they brought them out in a boat which was a nice touch. This is when it got disappointing. Very disappointing (my personal opinion) As soon as they placed it down I could tell this was ALL RICE. They also forgot an order of rolls I had ordered. I didn’t even care to tell them because I didn’t want it anymore. Giant overly rice’d up rolls with minimal filler. (See pictures) I do eat a lot of sushi so I’m a bit judgmental. If this had been cheap sushi I would’ve shrugged it off but it wasn’t, I wanted to leave and just not eat any of it or pay for it but didn’t want to be rude. Before adjusting the bill because of the rolls they forgot to bring, it was around 75$ 75$ for rice , I’m sure a lot of menu items are good but what I expected vs what they brought was a big let down. Ate some and took a lot in a to-go box, again let me say staff and place is very nice. Although, that sushi was such an overpriced letdown that I would not buy there again. This is just my personal experience, I’m sure plenty of...

This is a smallish restaurant that does a lot of business. I have eaten here twice and have gotten take-out several times. If you're dining in you'll see a lot of locals. Service can be very slow during peak times. I remember waiting for an hour between sitting down and getting food. Also know that you pay in the front after you're done. While the wait is long the food is delicious. I've had the Dinner Box Combo A, the Spicy California Roll, Volcano Roll, some sashimi, and a couple of others I don't remember. But everything has been good. Their secret weapon is the Soybean Roll. Oh man is it good! If you order take-out when they're not too busy sometimes they'll give you one while you wait. It's something I order every time no matter what. The take-out process can also take a while since they field so many calls and everyone needs to pay at the same register. Again they don't have a ton of space and it's delicious, so be patient and enjoy...

This place is very casual and perfect place to grab a quick lunch. Lunch fare is priced modestly! If you are looking for an Instagrammable ambiance with swanky decor this is not the venue to go to! That being said, the food and service was on point. The sushi rolls were made to order and done so in a quick and efficient manner. I experienced my first hot sake and that was enjoyable given the time of year. *I did notice they included the alcohol sales tax charges on our check. It didn’t bother me given the one drink I ordered, but could be an imposition if a group of people were to order multiple drinks.* Please note the doors on the front of the restaurant facing Park Potomac Ave are not considered an entrance. The “entrance” is to the left of those doors along the adjacent side of the building! Enjoy!
