Upon entering the restaurant, I could immediately tell it was definitely a vibe and a half! Brightly colored decor makes the restaurant feel very inviting and clean :-)
Even though I rushed like speed racer to make it before they closed , they were still kind enough to take my order . I got the bbq beef bowl , a spam musubi , and passion fruit drink! I’ve never had Hawaiian food before, so I was really pumped to try it all .
When I bit into the spam musubi … my tastebuds went “I JUST WANNA BE PART OF YOUR SYMPHONYYYYYY” !!!!!! WOWWWW I’ve never tasted anything so warm , saucy and delicious like that before!! I want more next time I’ll go lol
The bbq beef bowl was next and… well… while the beef was absolutely incredible in flavor, it was chewy but eh that didn’t bother me as much as those veggies .. when my tastebuds tasted those veggies in the bowl it went *insert BRUH sound effect * … ZERO seasoning. They literally just boiled or reheated frozen veggies and that’s IT. Please please PLEASE season those veggies and make sure they’re fresh and maybe I will reconsider biting into that again! The rice was not seasoned either but I think that’s pretty standard for Hawaiian dishes ? Not sure…
Tbh if yall could put the spam sauce as an option to add to your bowl , or any sauce really, that would’ve probably made me add another star to this review.
The Hawaiian sun brand is always good asf. I got the passion fruit drink and it was good .
I want to come back and try their bbq...

I don’t give 5 stars lightly, but L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Rockville absolutely deserves it. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of grilled meats and island spices hit me like a warm wave, and I knew I was in for something special.
I ordered the BBQ Mix Plate, and wow—every bite was packed with flavor. The short ribs were smoky and tender, the BBQ chicken juicy and well-seasoned, and the beef—next-level good. The portions were generous, and the two scoops of rice and creamy mac salad made it a hearty, satisfying meal.
The staff was friendly and efficient, and the food came out hot and fresh. The vibe is chill, no-frills, and exactly what you want when you’re craving comfort food that hits the spot. It really does feel like a taste of the islands.
If you’ve never tried Hawaiian plate lunch before, this is the place to start. And if you have? You already know—L&L is the real deal. Definitely adding this spot to my...
Read moreL&L in the mainland is CHOICE, if you know what I mean. As why I go eat there cause I miss da Hawaiian Local grindz. But, this one in Rockville, MD is very expensive, I mean beyond equilibrium. Da food almost taste the same as Hawaii. I had the Kalua & Cabbage, but was dry and needed more salt. I also had the Katsu Chicken, but the Katsu sauce was to watery and neva had that bite like Hawaii. They sell Spam Musubi in pairs, and had little bit sauce flavor in it. In Hawaii, I eat L&L in Hawaii maybe 3x a week because of the location convenience. Ova hea, I can only afford once a month. I know I get different taste than others. The food was good but neva broke da mouth because of the price. Still yet, no more any local kine grindz place here in the DMV, that's why I goin say, "try 'um Brah, cause no more nothing 100 miles radius...
