Went to Captain J’s Seafood on 1 Feb. we were seated and orders taken reasonably fast. The waitress was friendly and polite. The crab cakes I ordered were terrible tasted like uncooked dough. I spoke to the waitress Tamica she asked if we would like to speak to the manager we said yes. We waited for 10 minutes, he never came to our table, Tamica said he was on the phone but she told him what we said. My wife told her we would wait, 10 minutes later she came back and said he was still on the phone, she would give him our names. We asked for his name, she said Mr John, my wife said what’s his last name, she acted like she didn’t know. We waited 5 minutes later we went to check out and to inquire information. The owner/ manager was up front the whole time. We talked to him about the situation, he was smart saying I never had anybody complain…. mind you he just been open a week. I told him I was from Maryland and know what a crab cake should taste like, he took it off the bill finally which was okay but we wanted to let him know how we felt about the crab cake for maybe he could...
Read moreWe were seated immediately, but nobody came to wait on us. After several minutes of having waitresses pass by our booth without stopping, nor volunteering to look for our assigned waitress, I very politely walked over to the hostess (customers should never have to leave their seats in search of service), and told her that no one has bothered to check on us. She said okay, then consulted with two waitresses and the cashier, but nothing was ever said to us. They weren't very busy at all, there were open tables and booths. Waitresses continued to walk by without stopping. We did notice one of them waiting on tables near us, but she was working at a snail's pace. After we gave them ample time to correct the situation, we got up and told the hostess that we were leaving. She didn't seem fazed at all, nor was she interested in solving the problem. And neither of us were impolite, we both kept calm and were very tactful. They deserve zero stars! We went to Sal's instead, and were treated much...
Read moreIf it's not fried don't bother. The wait staff is absolutely amazing and courteous. We haven't had the full menu yet but if what we had was a sampler then it leaves a lot to be desired. Mac and cheese had no flavor and the mash was par with box grade that has been blended. The Clam chowder is about the same as getting it from the store from a can(If you like Campbell's chunky new England chowder this is a true competitor). The broiled salmon was lackluster it was missing a lot of flavor and it was overall wet. The fried food is from heaven. Absolutely perfect. I feel if everything served had the same treatment as the fried foods, This would be the best restaurant in the world. Portion size varies with a heavy bias to the fried food. My GF go enough fried fish and for 2 people and feel like I got have a serving of salmon. I will be back to order fried fish or shrimp or fried something later another day but anything else would need...
