R Social on Main has been on our list to try for awhile, last night we tried it. We walked in and were greeted right away. It has the upscale feel without being too upscale. It was a little loud but you’re still able to hold a conversation with your group. I started out with the smoke show old fashioned this is peach street smoked rye, cherry smash syrup, angostura and cherry bitters. I love a good old fashioned and this was one has landed as my 2nd favorite. My wife got the yes please, it’s Skyy citrus vodka, Giffard Elderflower Liqueur, cranberry, topped with Mionetto Prosecco. She said it was a little tart with a slight floral flavor. I really wanted to try the shoreside sunnies. This is lightly breaded sunfish, served with house tartar, and charred lemon. The breading was flavorful, the sunnies had plenty of meat. The tartar sauce is the best I’ve ever had, extremely flavorful. Our amazing server Michaela made some great recommendations. One was the corn bread brisket grilled cheese, this is Jalapeño cheddar cornbread, chipotle bbq sauce, aged cheddar and smoked brisket. This is under handhelds but you definitely need a fork and knife. Brisket was cooked to perfection. The sauce compliments the sweetness of the cornbread. The cornbread wasn’t your restaurant typical dry and crumbly. For a side we upgraded to their brussel sprouts. These are some of the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever ate. They are charred brussels, hot honey, balsamic, goat cheese, candied pecans and crispy bacon. They are also on the appetizer menu so we’ll be back with a friend that loves brussel sprouts. We also split the peach and prosciutto flat bread. This is spicy peach jam, arugula, prosciutto di parma 2 ways and goat cheese. This was such a fun and perfect combination of flavors. The sweet and spicy of the jam complimented by the richness of the goat cheese. The flatbread held up with all the ingredients. My absolute favorite flatbread I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Our server Michaela was amazing! We will be back because there are a lot more we...
Read moreI've been twice now. The first time was on a Friday night, and they were very busy. Despite that, we were seated faster than expected and got drinks right away. The food took a while, but that wasn't surprising considering they are a new restaurant with new staff and were very busy. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were delicious. I tasted the Tennessee mac & cheese, and it was really good too. My main complaint for the first time I went is that it was very hot inside, like kind of stifling. The second time I went was on a Sunday night, and they were pretty busy. Service was pretty good, but it took a while to get our food - again, not surprising considering how busy they were. I ordered the bacon and blue burger with fries. Their fries were waaaay too crispy for my liking - almost like eating potato chips. I'm not sure if this is the norm or if I got an overdone batch. They didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked, and it was very pink. It was fine for me, but I think it would turn a lot of people off. The flavor of the burger was great - I opted for the curry honey mustard (yum) instead of the horseradish mostarda that is normally served with it. I also tried the short rib ravioli (meh to me), the shoreside sunnies (yum), the broccolini (yum), and the chorizo beer cheese soup (more of a paste than a soup, but the flavor was good - would be better if served with bread or tortilla chips). Overall, pretty good service, good food, good drinks and drink selection, and reasonable prices. Management is very friendly and attentive. I'll be back for sure, but I really hope the fries are better next time! That's the main reason I...
Read moreAfter reviewing the site to make a reservation and seeing the “we do not take reservations” message I tried calling just to see if they take reservations for large (8+) parties. The answer was “no reservations”. We arrived at 5:15 expecting to wait for a table (9 of us) and were given the wait estimate of 60-90 minutes. No problem! We expected that. After 90 minutes and a few drinks at the bar, we checked in with the host. “Your next on the list”, she said. Great, we will hold on a little longer then enjoy dinner. Then, in walks a party of 9 and they are immediately seated. Wait, what’s going on? There are no reservations available. That’s when we asked the host what happened and she explained that for parties of 8 or more they take reservations and that group had a reservation. OUCH! We’ve been here almost 2 hours and still no table. Up comes the manager. He explains there was a mix up and we’d have to wait another 10-15 minutes. For real! He entertained our questions for a brief amount of time then excused us like we were a nuisance (Joe). He left his ill equipped host team to continue to talk to us. Suspect move by a person in a leadership position. 30 minutes later and after 2 hours and 20 minutes we were seated for dinner. No apology, no acknowledgment on how poor of an experience we’d had to that point.
Following that I’d say average food. High prices and slower than acceptable service.
I get they are new, but still several core principals of customer service were ignored during our experience.
No hurry to return...
