El Asador — Restaurant in Romeoville

Teodora, who works as a server at the restaurant, treated us very unfairly and made us feel unwelcome. We went there the other day to get tacos, just like we usually do. When we arrived, I noticed she looked upset as soon as we entered. There were about four people ahead of us, and she was friendly with them, but she was cold and rude to us. She didn't say hello or greet us at all. We sat down and paid for chips, salsa, and our tacos. Then, three other people came in after us, and she served them first, even though we arrived before.

After about 20 minutes of feeling stared at by everyone in the restaurant, I felt very uncomfortable. I asked to leave and wanted a refund for the tacos we didn’t get to eat and for the chips and salsa we never received. Instead of helping us, she started doing other things, like refilling sauce bottles, asking other customers if they needed more drinks, and tidying up paper towels. She did these things to make us feel more unwelcome and kept us waiting another 15 minutes when all we wanted was to leave.

It felt like I was in an old, racist restaurant where only white people were accepted, even though everyone else working there was Hispanic and we are Black. I recorded most of this experience and plan to share it on social media. I honestly don’t understand why we were treated like that, but it’s not okay. I don’t recommend this restaurant. Our food was stone cold, and some of the reviews online seem fake.

That said, I will say that the meat they serve can be quite good when it's hot, and when a different server, who was very kind, was working, we usually get good service. But after this upsetting experience, I will never go back.

Also stay away from the beans and rice horrible. The rice is overcooked all the time we never order it never order a burrito. It’s absolutely horrible and the beans we never tried the chicken or...

Would not recommend anyone go to this place. A friend of mine and I went to eat here a couple weeks ago Tuesday in the evening. I ordered one taco, she ordered two. She also ardered an orchata drink. That was it. We sat for a while ate and relaxed. There was only us nd one other table eating. Our server cashed us out and we left. Mind you I have to help her out she is handicap and I was just trying to pay and go. When I got home later realized she way over charged me. I paid $25! What????? She gave me no receipt. I took a pic of our food so I have that as proof. Called 3 times this past week spoke two two women told me I’d be taken care of left my information and never got back to me today they told us to come in they were playing games never gave us a damn thing. Had two bad experiences with them but like the flavor of the meat. First time they gave us old limes and the food was ice cold. Today I went ordered 7 tacos paid $.50 extra for cheese. They gave me literally a sprinkle of cheese. Tortillas were old and dry. Meat tasted like it was from last night. They claimed it was fresh but I have had a fresh taco from there and that was not it. The wait to order was very long.. like 15 mins and there was only 3 customers in there. There was a man just standing there while the lady tried to do everything from answer phones to completing my order (which took longer than usual) After waiting 20 mins to get my food it was a huge disappointment.
