Real Sub Shop

Vinnies Italian Sub Shop 3/27/19 My visit was on a Wednesday afternoon at approx 2:00. The delightful woman working behind the counter was very friendly. We exchanged small talk while she prepared my sub. We came to the realization that this is indeed a small world. My Italian Sausage sub was on a soft white bun. The sausage was “Vinnies Own”. I liked the sausage blend of spices, just a faint bit of heat. The cooked peppers and onions were still firm to the bite. The “Vinnies Special Dressing” blended it all together. Overall a real good sub.

Atmosphere Vinnies is located on Middlebelt ¼ mile north of I-94 just before Ecorse Road. There are few stools and a counter for seating inside at this location.

Noise Level Normal for a neighborhood place filled with light conversations

Meal Italian Sausage Sub $6.60 Open Mon-Fri 9:30am – 4:30pm Saturday 10:00am - 2:00pm Closed on Sunday

Wheelchair Access Vinnies’ Italian Sub Shops’ Entrance is on top of a wooden porch. There is a ramp or stairs with handrails to climb, only a few steps. The one Handicapped parking spot is literally in front of the stairs at street level.

My Rating ★★ Ratings range from zero to four stars. Zero is poor, One star, good. Two stars, very good. Three stars, excellent. Four stars, extraordinary (almost...

This is the definition of 'old school' - a roadside sandwich shop with homemade dessert on display, still on the baking sheet with plastic wrap over it. The sandwiches are made by layers, from a low of 5 meat & 1 cheese layer (5/1) up to 21 & 5. That's got to be a mouthful. Service is fast! The door hadn't closed before I was greeted by the man who made my sandwich. I went with the popular 10/2 & a can of Squirt. The steady stream of people coming through the door of this obviously family-owned & -operated place are greeted with a friendly "hello, how are doing today?" neighborly salutation. There is a counter with 8 stools to eat at. If you get yours to-go, wait until you get to your destination to start or you will be wearing some of it. Delicious with a side of drippy. Great for licking your fingers but not for the steering wheel. The music was good, too. Good volume with early rock & roll: 50s & 60s tunes, mostly, some...

Saw this place walking distance from the truck shop. My friend n I were greeted by a wonderful woman who was very nice. We ordered the steak sub n Italian sausage subs but had to wait because the steak was still cooking so we grabbed a drink n waited. While we waited it must have been a lunch rush because we turned around n the place was packed. We kept hearing ppl order but by numbers we looked at each other puzzled. Then we realized they were ordering the Italian subs. Once the steak was done the woman took out order n we could not not order an Italian sub lol. We got our order quick. We split the subs n they were awesome but we didn't touch the Italian sub so we took it with us for later. OMG we smashed that Italian sub it was on my top for Italian subs I've had n understand y they come different ways. If u near DFW...

I found this place near the DTW Airport because come on…airport food kicks rocks. One thing about this place is its own beauty of being an old-fashioned sandwich shop, many which have faded into history. Vinnie’s is still going strong. I had to figure out what I call “Detroit fractions” which are posted on the wall for how sandwiches are ordered: the front number is the layers of meat; the back number is the layers of cheese (as, 10/2 and so on). FANTASTIC sandwiches whether you’re on your way to or from the airport, Detroit, or wherever you’re going…I highly recommend!!

Landed at Detroit Metro the other day, picked up the rental car, and headed straight to Vinnie's, 1.5 miles away, for a 10/2 sub--it's my tradition! Pulled into the sub-shop during a busy lunch rush, with a line seven deep. In just four minutes, I was at the counter ordering. This place runs like a well-oiled machine, churning out the best subs around in a cool Mom & Pop sub shop! In no hurry, so I settled at the counter with my sub, a Vernors, and a bag of Better Made chips. Vinnie's is always my first stop in town, and it never disappoints!
