Yaba Sushi and Steak — Restaurant in Roscoe Township

I've been here several times with no problems, usually on Friday or Saturday nights. The sushi is amazing! That's really why I'm giving them stars...

Tonight I went in to get sushi with my daughter and I, she's almost 2 to have a little girls bonding time. She and I both LOVE sushi. I went in and was seated immediately. 5minutes go by, no one comes to our table. 10 mins. Pass. Still no one. I see the waitress talk to the lady at the front desk in mandrin and they both look at me and the waitress goes back to another tables and wipes it down. Another 5mins pass and no one has still come to my table. I start grabbing my coat and get my daughter ready and walk out the door and the waitress tells me to have a good night? I was never waited on. I would of asked for service, but the hostess was on her phone the whole time, and I thought it was a little rude to speak in another language. I work with a lot of people from Europe and Japan, China, India ect. When they come to visit they always try to speak english. They see it as very rude. Even if there is another person in the conversation that speaks their language. They stay in English unless they're trying to figure out phrasing ect.

Let me just say my husband and I really loved Yaba. We have had delicious food prior to the post but on Sunday 10/15 for my husband birthday we didn’t have a good experience. We mostly order the lobster roll and have been very satisfied but this last visit the rice tasted stale, hard kind of crunchy. I also ordered a steak and chicken dinner which the soup that comes with It had no taste and was cold. The salad had no dressing and tasted water down. The dinner plate was good. No complaints there but we are very dissatisfied. Not does it take over an hour when you sit down inside to get your order . But it seems like Yaba accommodates more to go orders. We will probably give you another try but I feel as a restaurant especially …you need to be aware of the product you’re putting out. We are very disappointed and dissatisfied this last visit. Really hoping that management and ownership takes a look at these reviews and does some reevaluation. Also the sushi we notice is very loose and you can’t even pick it up. Without it falling apart. Never had this problem before. I really hope this is corrected for what the prices we pay this food quality should be one of...

My husband and I went here on a whim after receiving an advertisement in the mail. We loved the intimate atmosphere. We were seated quickly and informed of the fact that some of mixed drinks were on a 4$ special. Our waiter was very nice and saw to what we needed quickly, answering the questions we had.

Their selection of sushi was wonderful and it tasted amazing. We ordered steamed gyoza, which had an option of being fried, and it was phenomenal. Our entrees were also beyond what we had expected. The portions I had for the katsu pork was more then I thought I'd receive and, honestly, was more then I've gotten at other places. My husband opted for the tempura shrimp udon and, while he prefers his ramen, loved what he had. We honestly had enough to take home and feel very much fed.
