J D's Old Town Tavern — Restaurant in Roscommon Township

My sisters and I went here. We got the peel-&-eat shrimp and smoked whitefish dip from the Shrimp Shack and Margaritas from inside the bar. They have a nice outdoor seating area that was playing island music. Fun place! Only thing was the colorful language from the really young girl at the Shrimp Shack when I asked where they get their smoked whitefish from. I wasn’t asking for their dip recipe. Just wanted a local source for buying smoked whitefish in the area. She wouldn’t tell me. The other girl that waited on us was really nice and waitress inside the bar...

We went to try the shrimp, and we were not disappointed! The place was packed, so we shared a table with a couple we didn't know. Other than that, the shrimp and hush puppies were great. One thing we found that was funny is that we received pealed shrimp while the rest of our table received shrimp in shell. The shrimp in shell tastes 100% better than those without shell - without shell is very salty. So, if given the choice, pick the shrimp in shell. We plan to go again. Next time we're trying the...

We patronize this place often, however while we took some out of town friends there this past Sunday it was crowded. There were only a few tables near the dance floor and there were a group of people occupying the are while playing shuffle board. They were rude towards my wife and made our stay there uncomfortable. Shame on the bar manager for allowing this, as we were there to spend money at the bar and the Shrimp Shack, which is their kitchen out back. We will think long and hard before we...
