I don't know if you have heard anything negative about China Palace in Roseburg, but I want to put a warning out to others; DO NOT EAT THERE! We ordered take out dinner from them Sunday night. My daughter loves the noodles, and her mommy enjoys them too. However, when she didn't finish her meal, we put it in the fridge for her to snack on the next day. Mommy felt an urge to take a bite and when she did, CRUNCH! When I spit out the offending noodles, I found a metal wire in it! Its very strong, unbendable and sharp! Imagine my horror when I thought that if I hadn't had the urge to steal a snack, my six year old would likely have swallowed this wire and had her insides torn up. When the restaurant was called and told what happened, the manager had a message to convey; it happens so much that they cannot afford to refund, but they would be happy to give a credit if we would like to come in again and eat! No apologies, not even a bit of remorse. Just a blase response telling us that the wire brush that is frequently used to clean their cookware sheds these bristles and this is not the first time they have had this happen. Um.....excuse me?! For your safety, please, avoid the China Palace in Roseburg, as their food is dangerous, and they are not willing to respect their patrons enough to do...
Read moreChen's and Chi's, right across from one another but yet so different in both flavors and selection. This is of course a wonderful thing for both but since duo-reviews don't quite exist, this will of course be for the former.
Chen's has a wonderful and clean atmosphere, given the times we have right now; it holds that feeling of serenity (even while busy) to let you get a moment to forget the still ongoing restrictions.
The food itself is wonderful, always made fresh, to-order, and a few visits I've had, surprisingly fast! (Im sure time of day and other patrons factor this). I tend to get the Mandarin Beef, a spicey dish of beef, broccoli and assorted other vegetables. Ive not once had a bad serving of it since going, but interestingly enough the flavor of The stock/sauce they use mellows and changes when I bring it home for my rice later.
The egg-flower soup they have is really rich and great to start before your meal; amd the "Family Dish" is well incorporated with a style of "a little of everything" with certain options that are priced per person, with the entire menu otherwise if youre after a specific dish.
Thank you Chen's for being my go-to for...
Read moreI went to try the new place with three friends. I always "test drive" a Chinese place by ordering my two standards: Hot and Sour Soup and Pot Stickers. I also ordered the Lettuce wraps, hoping for something similar to one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. The fact that this was on the menu along with a couple of Japanese was my first clue this would be a less than authentic experience. The soup was hot and tasty.I give it a 7 out of 10. Unfortunately, it would be the ONLY thing that had any taste. The Pot Stickers were bland and lukewarm, served on a bed of chopped cabbage. The dipping sauce, critical in this dish lacked the taste of mirin wine and any seasoning. The Lettuce wrap filling devoid of flavor and contained peas and carrots like the ones you find in a frozen box. Other dishes ordered at the table all had something in common...NO FLAVOR OR SEASONING. A waste of $20 on my part. Everyone agreed they would not be returning. The only positive was the lack of plastic plants and...
