I've been frequenting Fiesta Mexicana for a few years now and I need to add one more 5 star review because the truly great restaurants need to be noticed. I can't emphasize enough these two descriptions: delicious and authentic. Take for instance, his salsa. He makes it from scratch and it redefined what salsa could be for me. I buy large containers of this salsa to have at home. It's a green tomatillo based salsa with a giant infusion of jalapeno. I could write poetry about this stuff... His Pambazo sandwich. One of the most original delicious sandwiches I think in the entire Baltimore area. It should have been featured in Adam Richman's show. It starts with great bread dunked in his mole, filled with chorizo and potato, queso fresco, so delicious that uncontrollable profanity might slip from your mouth in between bites. What brings me back every Friday night though, is his Cecina Plato, the carne ASADA! My wife and I literally turn into excited school kids as the familiar aromas make their way out of the boxes. It is so simple, yet mind boggling delicious! Some of the best cured flank steak, grilled on the flat iron with fresh onions and jalepenos (ask for it to be spicy and you get the jalepenos). You take this steak and lay it into one of the freshly made tortillas with a slather of that fantastic salsa. Layer in some of the lettuce, avocado, queso fresco, and a spritz of the fresh lime... No hyperbole here, it's one of my greatest food experiences. It doesn't get any more delicious, period. There are many more items here for you to discover and write about. Fiesta Mexicana is a gem that communities cherish. The owner and his staff are some of the nicest people out there. I can't wait for all of their hard work to materialize in his new restaurant that I know will bring him more well...
Read moreThe food here is excellent, and for delivery (via third party) or carry out, if you want authentic Mexican food (as opposed to TexMex which is what you find most places), you'll be hard pressed to find better.
However, I must recommend carryout or delivery over eating in. The restaurant service side needs some work. The waitress was cheerful enough but there were several training based problems:
After we were seated, the waitress waited quite a long time before visiting our table. This may have been because she was the only one covering about 10 tables.
Our entire order - drinks, appetizers and entrees, had to be ordered at the same time, as opposed to the customary tradition of getting drinks pretty quickly along with appetizers being ordered at the same time.
The two appetizers that we ordered (which were delicious) were brought out separately and quite some time apart. We weren't sure if we were even going to get our second appetizer.
We did not get silverware until the entrees were delivered.
If you know the menu, you know that you get 2 or 3 items of what you order and each one can be different. One of us ordered the Flautas, and there are three options, potato, chicken and beef. My companion said, "One of each" but got 3 beef. The waitress wasn't very fluent in English, and that's fine but she should have made sure she had the order correct by reading it back to us.
So in short if you want great food and fairly unimpressive service, dine in. Otherwise - delivery or carry out is absolutely the way to go! (I recommend carry out because they do have a nice selection of assorted side items (chips, sodas, candy) that you can't find in many places that you have to buy at...
Read moreIncredible tacos de carne asada, and nachos with 3 carnes the first time I went there but the 2nd time I went the same order the meat was hard and salty but also incredibly pricey for being a small place, and the customer service being being so uppity....
And I'm back to thank the owner/ manager for answer me , to my input. I paid my hard earned money to your establishment, I went back a second time because I loved the food the first time but just because I'm peruvian and I was not familiar with mexican food and took more time at the counter to ask for the ingredients on your plates and just because we speak spanish It DOES NOT MEAN WE UNDERSTAND THE FOOD WE ALL EAT, and the lady at the counter, she was losing her patience with me, and I felt it, and that make me feel bad, instead of her offering to explain to me what the food was about she showed her displeasure. Look I know your business was brought up with sacrifice and hard work, like all of us, that came here to this great country, because sadly our countries, are rule by greedy people that get away with a lot, here a least we have opportunities for the ones that want to work hard, and it's a shame that I have to set you straight just because I told the truth of how I was treated of how it make me felt just because I did not knew of mexican food, and I know it was because I was latina, if I was an anglosaxon descent would be different ( no offense to all anglosaxon people) shame on you, because your employees should not treat...
