La Haciendita Mexican Cantina — Restaurant in Roselawn

We decided to give La Haciendita a try today. We ordered online as it was easier for us to try the food this evening. The order was placed at 3:16pm. We ordered a few different things to try and of course chips, queso dip, and guac as well. Our order was set to pickup at 3:51pm per the email confirmation. Arrived at the restaurant at 3:55pm and was told they were still working on our order. After 15 minutes of standing near the entrance waiting, our food started to come out. I was told we were waiting on the guac to then be made. By the time the whole order was received it was an hour total, ( 30 minutes after the online order pickup time).

Upon opening the food, the fajitas didn’t seem to come with the lettuce, tomato, sour cream as posted on the online ordering. They were decently seasoned but hard to decipher what you were eating because all the meats tasted the same.

The Pepe’s burrito was subpar. The quesabirria tacos were missing the cilantro as per online ordering.

Queso and salsa were very bland. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce in a container. Guac was decent but not worth the price for the small scoop you get.

The rice and beans as added sides weren’t the sizes listed online and we received smaller dishes than listed. You receive only one bag of chips for all the salsa, guac, and queso you order but can order more chips for additional price.

Always willing to try new restaurants but after not even receiving an apology for the wait or acknowledging that it was double the time, I’m not sure we will be back. There was hardly any tables and most dine-in customers already had received their food.

I should have read the reviews prior to going! My husband, daughter, and I went for dinner. When we got there, we were told to sit anywhere. There are only a few tables that seat more than 2 so we sat and waited. And waited. And waited more just for menus. We had to ask to put in a drink order. My husband ordered a beer... We ordered pop. Our pop came right away. The beer..... we waited. And waited. And waited. I had to ask for the beer. We placed our food order and received chips and salsa. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Our food took over an hour to come out. While the flavor was good.... The majority of our food was cold. My husband ordered pork tacos and received steak. We didn't want to wait another hour for the correct food to come out. The food did not stand out enough to want to go back and wait that long for cold average food and slow service. We were never asked if we wanted another beverage. Tip: if the wait time is that long let the diner know when they come. And maybe offer another round of chips and salsa. Drinks too! Theme of the...

Got there at 5:00 to no open tables, no problem, ordered to-go. We attempted to add chips and salsa to our order and were told that is only available to dine in customers. My husband asked for some while we waited for our food and we were told no, because we weren’t technically dine-in customers. We are paying the same for food, no?

Anyways. After standing around until 6:30, we were finally given our to-go order. Got home excited to try the food because Mexican is our favorite cuisine.

Steak tacos: very very little meat and what was there was dry, chewy and tasteless. Rice: absolutely flavorless. Chicken birria tacos: decent, but mostly flavorless even with the accompanying dipping sauce. The best part was the green sauce because it helped give the food some flavor.

We likely won’t return in the future as we weren’t happy with the food overall. La Mexicana or Burrito Jalisco are much better...
