La Mexicana Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Roselawn

Over the years this restaurant used to be our favorite restaurant in the area, but now its standards have gone down considerably. We ordered food today for lunch and was surprised by the price of the food, we expected to pay about 50-60 bucks for our food, not $91.15. We figured it was going to be good, but all of our food was bland, we were missing slices of avocado in our veggie tacos that we asked for, we didn’t get any beans in them either, they usually give us bean and cheese with them and they didn’t this time. They made our tacos fajita-like and we didn’t ask for fajitas we asked for tacos. We asked for French fries not potato wedges, and bland ones at that. They used to actually have French fries, but I guess they changed vendors and now do subpar potato wedges, even KFC’s thickest potato wedges have more flavor than their thinnest potato wedges. My steak tacos had no seasoning whatsoever on them either. For 91 dollars of food for it to be bland and missing certain ingredients is completely unacceptable. When we wanted to get a refund we had to literally raise our voice to get some of our money out of it. We only took a couple of bites of our meal to realize we weren’t satisfied and the cashier and manager were adamant on not giving our money back, they only gave us 43 dollars out of the 91 that we spent. Our disappointment for this place has never been higher, we will not be returning. Take my advice and save your money for the other Mexican restaurant that’s down the street in the Demotte-Roselawn area, this...

My family has been here probably a dozen times. It’s either a really great experience or extremely poor. When they’re on point the food is great and service is wonderful. When it’s poor twice they’ve told us they were closed at 7pm on Saturday, even though there were people in there eating and staff was standing around laughing and joking and their hours said they should be open, we’ve had to wait over an hour for our food a few times only to get part of our order or even once someone else’s partial order. We’ve had our food brought after 45 minutes and it be cold. They also run out of drinks quite often. Every time I’ve been there I have to go chase down my bill, almost like once you get your food the server is done with you.

When we’ve had really poor service it’s typically only younger workers there, I’m wondering if it’s a cats away mice will play kinda thing when boss isn’t around.

I don’t like bashing on locally owned businesses in my community. Their food is great and authentic and if you get the right group of people when you go it’s wonderful. The problem is it’s hit or miss on service and you don’t know until you’ve already ordered and have sat there for a half hour wondering where your food is. If they were more consistent I’d give them a better rating but they lost my business after the last time they told me they were closed, 2 hours early, with people inside eating, while their open...

Everything was just horrible aside from the beans and rice.. i really tried to give this restaurant a 2cd try because i thought the food from the first time was just a bad day, but this is probably the most nastiest Mexican food i ever had in my life.. i couldnt even finish 1 of my 3 tacos.. i had el pastor and the meat so rubbery and un seasoned.. i cant see how anyone can eat it! The first visit me and my wife had torta’s and the meat was super unseasoned and once again rubbery (Steak)

For the time i visit yesterday (5/18/25) i was solo.. i sat down at a table (Never got greeted) the waitress came and asked what i wanted, gave me my food and NEVERRR checked on me after that! Some Hispanics came in and she was talking to them non stop lol.. im a very high top tipper! And even if the food was nasty and i had good service, i would had still tipped her 20-30 dollars! But man my soul couldn’t even spare her 1 cent!

There is my honest review! Nothing held back! They have VERY good beans and rice! And the water i had was very good too! Aside from that!!...
