compass + cleaver — Restaurant in Ross Township

Compass and Cleaver is our favorite restaurant. Dinner in a cool summer night overlooking the lake in the back patio is scenic, relaxing and delicious. Just this past Saturday—we held a Celebration of Life Ceremony for my father at Compass and Cleaver. Ken prepared food that my my father loved in exquisite Compass and Cleaver fashion.

Thoughtful attention to detail led to positive comments from every guest that arrived. I cannot imagine a better way to honor my Dad and show love to the people he loved.

We arranged a boat ride for our guests. Just a walk across the street to the docks and we were off.

We have ordered a fish dish multiple times. 2 of 3 times it has been over cooked... Even when during ordering was specifically requested not to over cook the fish and the set was barely warm...My scallops were fantastic but the fish in usually over cooked. The bar staff is great and is who waited on us. Although the male bartender was in a hurry and seemed to think he could finish his sentences with his back turned walking away from us. I've eaten here twice now and both times were amazing! I highly recommend the pork chop, crab cakes, cheese dip (appetizer), and the crispy chicken thighs. Their dirty martinis are on point too! Their dessert menu rotates but we've gotten the special both times and both times it was out of this world. The servers are friendly and attentive. It's such a little thing, but they bring new silverware out after the appetizers and will box up the leftovers for you. We will...
