I ordered a few things from Cafezinho, all of which are things I get from there regularly. I usually have Uber deliver it.
Today, both drinks that I received were wrong. Not a huge deal, mistakes happen.
I was refunded by Uber, and placed a 2nd order.
The order was cancelled on the app immediately.
I call the store around 7 or 8 times over the course of 3-5 minutes to ask about the cancellation. The first handful of times the call went to a full voicemail inbox (which is not a great look for an established biz, but it happens).
The last few times I called, the phone was picked up, and then hung up. I could hear the restaurant ambiance in the background before the hang-ups. The last time it happened, the hang-up was extremely quick. I could tell someone was getting mad at me for calling.
Finally, I got a "hello?" (I don't think that's how you're supposed to answer a phone at a business...) It took me a second to speak because I was caught off guard, and so they said "hello?!" again before I could answer.
I asked "why do you keep hanging up on me?"
"We are super busy and I am the only one here," they said.
For 1, that should not be. This person doesn't deserve to have to run an entire cafe at lunchtime BY THEMSELVES. I can understand why they were frustrated. They were making mistakes, swamped with orders, phone is ringing off the hook, etc.
But for 2, how is that a justification for picking up then hanging up on customers whose orders you messed up? What if I was the owner? What if it was an emergency?
Anyway- After this, they asked me what I ordered. I told them. They then looked over the order, and recited back to me what it was. I said something like "...Well I know what I ordered, but it was not what I got." All I wanted to do was get what I ordered, or something else, and find out why my original order was canceled.
I was then told that they did not cancel the order, and that the restaurant does not have the ability to cancel orders.
This is a lie.
I told them I used to deliver food, and I know establishments have the freedom to cancel Uber and Doordash orders if they need to.
So they just straight-up told me I was wrong.
I suspect they canceled the order for the same reason they were hanging up—they were busy and frustrated.
I don't think they should be fired or penalized, but canceling orders, picking up and hanging up on customers, lying about canceling orders, just isn't how to handle this stuff.
I never did get my drinks. I wish the employee would've been willing to help me get my lunch, or if anything just apologize and say I just can't fill any more orders today, that would be fine. I wasn't trying to be a pest, but my order was wrong, my second order was canceled, and I was being hung up on. So I think my calling was justified.
This place has fantastic reviews, so I KNOW this was a fluke. I am not trying to drag down the business because of this one situation. But I have to be honest about it.
I will likely be returning as usual. The food is too good, and it's almost always correct.

Read moreSweet little cafe. Very cozy and the service was spot on.
Tried a few items for the first round and was very happy with the choices. Pao de queijo was one item I specifically went for... and it was great. Fresh out the oven, super gooey and with a subtle flavor. Highly recommended. Pingado (coffee) was smooth and sweet. I do have to say, the coxinha (and fair warning, it is one person order. Not a big deal, just a heads up) was a bit to seasoned for my taste and I didn't get much of the catupiry flavor. After reading the menu, I didn't see it listed as part of the recipe, but aside from that, the dough was very supple and tasty. Finally the bauru sandwich. Very simple, warm and flavorful.
All in all, I absolutely recommend, it is a break from the typical cafe and has some great options for a bite... plus they have Guarana... that alone is a reason to checkout out.
Obrigado cafezinho! I'll be back for...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but overall it was just an okay experience. The space was clean, but very small — and because the kitchen is open to the dining area, the smoke and smell from cooking quickly filled the room and felt overwhelming.
I ordered the Cubanito, and while the presentation was nice and the meat was tender with a good texture, the sandwich took a long time to arrive. Unfortunately, the flavor was overly salty — the combination of mustard and pickles really overpowered the rest of the ingredients.
Also, several items were out of stock, and based on their online menu, it seems like they’re trying to do a bit too much for such a small space. I think the experience would be better if they focused on a smaller menu with fewer items, but ensured consistency and...
