UPDATE: My response to the reply: PEOPLE PLEASE LOOK AT THE ATTACHED RECEIPT $1.40 for 1/2 topping and then another $1.40 for '6' which was described below as the charge for the 1/2 topping, that makes zero sense. I'll accept the 'convenience fee' charge but listing it on the receipt is a far cry from alerting the customer to its use prior. I understand that the economy is in a rough place and your cost(s) are going up but that is no excuse. Don't be surprised if this place starts charging a fee for the pizza box.
Ordered on a Friday night, took a little longer to arrive than the one hour quoted but that's okay. The pizza was mediocre and not really notable. The only reason why I tried it was because I drive by it all the time and was curious. My issue was the random charges that were on my receipt:
$20 for 18" pizza $1.40 for 1/2 topping $2.25 delivery fee $1 convenience fee (This was not a GRUBHUB or UBER EATS order) $1.40 for 6(not sure what that is, must be because I ordered around 6pm)
If you are going to bake in all of these extra charges, let the customer know ahead of time. Honestly, its only a few dollars but it reminded me of a car dealership trying to get one by on the customer.
The Pizza Place is not a place that I will call again and beware that their business practices are unethical as far as...
Read moreThis place is a hot mess. Placed an order today only to have them tell me that I didn't order what I said I did (mix up over toppings on an-already-done pizza) - insane unprofessionalism while each of the workers tried to place blame on the other before turning the blame on me. The building is gross - I highly doubt there aren't bugs roaming around somewhere which has always been my nervousness about this place but it's local so we try to support smaller businesses. The guy who was annoyed that the pizza was put in the system wrong had only two (rotting) teeth - something that makes me wonder if he can't take care of his teeth, how could he possibly be so kind as to wash his hands before tossing around our dough and toppings. Yikes. Never going back and I hope others don't either. Pick another place to give your...
Read moreI live in Wisconsin grew up and work in Chicago. I am a very picky person when it comes to pizza. I rate the pizza place one of the top 5 thin crust pizzas in all of Lake County and top 10 in all Chicagoland. They have the perfect combination of the right sauce, not overdoing the spices and just the right amount of sweetness. The sasage, that's right SASAGE (in Chicago we don't say Sausage) well anyway it's seasoned right with a little fennel. The crust is also perfect not too thin like a wafer and not too thick and doughy. Growing up in Chicago in the 60' and 70's all the Ma&Pa pizza places served thin crust pizzas just like "The Pizza Place" I don't know where or when the so called Chicago deep dish came on the scene but in the neighborhoods it was all thin crust, although deep dish is OK...
