Altoque Cafe — Restaurant in Roxbury Township

Altoque Café is an absolute gem! I’m usually very skeptical when it comes to Colombian food in the U.S., but this place blew me away. Every bite made me feel like I was back home. The flavors are as close to authentic as I’ve found anywhere in New Jersey—and believe me, I’ve tried just about every spot.

I ordered a buñuelo (perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside), a Pastel Gloria (what an absolute delight—it’s rare to find the pastry done that well), panderitos (I honestly didn’t think it was even possible to get that texture and flavor outside Colombia), pandebonos (the only ones I’ve had in the U.S. that taste like they should), and dedos de queso (fried cheese-filled pastries—just heavenly).

Beyond the food, the ambiance is charming, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. It feels more like a boutique coffee shop that just happens to serve incredible Colombian breakfasts and lunches. And the service? So warm and welcoming—it genuinely feels like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Colombia. 💛💙❤️

This new spot makes me so happy! My dad was a huge fan of Altoque restaurant and now they have a cafe! I always have to go to Dover to get Colombian goodies but now I have a great new spot right down the road. I Stopped in this morning for a coffee and bakery items.
