CRACKER BARREL MADE MY MOM CRY ON MOTHER’S DAY, ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AND HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE!! I attended Cracker Barrel on Mother’s Day, with my family. We drove a half hour out to this location because we came here once. When we arrived, our party of 5 was told to wait an hour and a half. It wasn't until 2 full hours later, that we were sat. The hostess who lead us, took us to a 4 person table and then had no idea what to do about it. My family and I, who have worked in the hospitality industry before FOR YEARS, helped her fully move the tables to create a perfect seating for us. Then, we got moved to a table that had a grease spill right underneath it, by the MANAGER! The manager used table towels to carry the plates to clean the disgusting and greasy floor. Then, our waiter finally came to our table after fifteen minutes or so. We order our drinks. Instead of placing the drinks down on the empty part of our table and passing the drinks out, he carried it in a very non secure position. By doing so, he spilled a full cup of ice cold water on my mother. My mother was drenched from lap to feet with cold water. When she came back from the bathroom, her feet were still fully wet and the waiter did not clean most of the wet table. Then the waiter disappeared and did not ask for our actual orders. We asked him if there was a mop to clean the completely wet floor to prevent us and other people from slipping, the manager comes back and we asked her if we could move to another table right behind us. Instead of helping us move the drinks and bread, the manager watched us do it ourselves. There was a complete LACK OF URGENCY from the managers and workers at this location. As we sat at our new table, they still had the same waiter from before attend to our table! My mother ordered the pork chops from the menu in hopes of finally eating what she came here for. The waiter came back ten minutes later finally aware that the porkchops were not available on Sunday. On top of that, we had to walk the waiter through the menu items we ordered and tell him how many sides were available for each item. At this point, it felt like we were serving ourselves! The main manager, not the other one, came to our table explaining that there was a confusion with our orders in the kitchen and that he would cover 50% of the order. We also ordered a hot tea, and the waiter gave us a mug with the teabag and never brought the hot water. Also, our food came back extremely salty, specifically the hashbrown casserole. Once we saw him passing by, we called the manager to our table right when my mother was crying. We explained to him exactly what happened and that a mother should NEVER cry on this holiday. Luckily, he did offer to cover the entire meal, but the overall slowness and incompetency was unacceptable for any restaurant to ever have. In fact, no one ever came back to check on us and see if we needed more. Never coming to this Cracker Barrel again. Workers must be more well trained, capable of knowing the menu, and skilled in carrying...
Read moreThis was the worst food I've ever had at a cracker barrel. I travel for work, and cracker barrel is my go-to place after a long drive. I've been to more than I can count around the country. Four hours from home, I made it to NJ for the night. I hoped to have a good relaxing dinner. I guess that I will wait another day. I got chicken and rice, the Monday special. It was special for the wrong reasons. The rice was one scoop of inedible, crunchy over cooked pellets. The chicken was two overcooked chewy and dry beasts hiding the rice pile underneath. The sauce, as always, was good, but that alone could not save the dish even though they smothered everything in it. I didn't finish it. The rice was cutting the gums on my lower teeth. I figured at least I had my favorite sides. Hashbrown casserole and apples.... nope. The hash brown casserole was overcooked on top and undercooked underneath. The cheese was like a cracker on top and not fully melted below. This was known because the casserole came to me with the overcooked part on the bottom of the dish. Flipping it upside-down didn't hide the burnt flavor or crunchy top. I didn't finish this either. Finally, apples... the baked apples I received were more skin than apples. I don't know if they made a batch with the pieces of the apples they didn't use from other dishes and served it to me or if its the usual here but I had mostly skins and very little fruit. Yet again, I didn't finish this. Through my meal, I stared at my peach iced tea, which had a head of foam of about 2 inches. When I did drink it, it tasted soapy. Why soapy? I couldn't finish that either. I left hungry and thirsty. I didn't say this to the server because she was kind the whole time. She did have a very big unwavering smile and stared unblinking directly at you from the side of the table when she talked (kind of uncomfortable), but she was none the less kind and helpful. I didn't want to make her think my terrible dining experience was because of her. I will not return during the rest of my trip, and i will be here several days. I also do not recommend this restaurant. Other cracker barrels, yes, here no. I was one of less than ten tables.... They were quite slow. I'm surprised by a good chain like a cracker barrel that it was as bad as it was here. I'll eat at another one somewhere else if I I crave cracker barrel....
Read moreI normally don't write reviews but two days after experiencing the dine in experience my group and I had, I felt the need to post a review. Party of 7 and we got there around lunch time. The wait was about an hour which is typical for any place on a Sunday. When we got seated, the waitress asked for our drinks and said they would bring out biscuits for the table. After the drinks came out, the waitress took our order and that's when everything went downhill. After taking our order, we did not see our waitress for the next 30-45 minutes to the point where we asked another waitress to go find our waitress. Biscuits were never brought out. Another 15 minutes passes and food is finally coming to our table but this food wasn't even our order (waitress came back later on and stated that a different waitress grabbed our food and gave it to a different table). Still no biscuits by the way. So now we wait another 15-20 minutes and the food finally arrives (along with the biscuits which tasted like cardboard) but we were missing a main dish along with numerous side dishes. Waitress brings in a manager and the manager stated that we would get comped for some of the incomplete orders due to the mishap. They eventually bring out the missing items and give us additional side dishes. Food was mediocre. One person ordered a steak medium rare and it came well done but we weren't going to complain and sit there for any longer. The check arrives and we weren't comped for anything. The manager and waitress are nowhere to be seen. We flag down another manager, who goes to speak the original manager, and then comes back and says there was a misunderstanding and they are only comping us for 1 side dish. This is where we accepted defeat and just wanted to get out of there, never to come back. Our dine in experience lasted nearly 2.5 hours. We should've went to IHOP... I know once I post this, I will get a generic message from management to fill out a survey. I will not...
