Pub 72 — Restaurant in Rutland Township

My kids wanted pizza, they came out to tell me that the oven wasn't turned on that their food would be delayed about 10-15 mins after we ordered. They offered to make them something else instead but my kids said they wanted to wait for the pizza. 30 mins later as they brought out everyone else's food, we were told the pizza oven was not working at all. The kids ordered something else and had to wait a super long time, their food orders should have been put in in front of all the people that arrived well after us. The other tables around us we getting all their food first. My daughter asked at the beginning of the meal if the drinks were free refills, we were told yes. My other son got root beer. No one told us they were bottles and would be charged individually. We were there over 2 hours just waiting for everyone at our table to be able to eat. I get it that times are tough, stuff happens, and everyone is short staffed, but they could have at least offered a discount or an extra appetizer for the kids that were waiting to eat. To my surprise I got my bill that was even higher because they charged for each root beer. I had to complain just to get the $9 of the over $100 I spent on our meal taken off. The food was underwhelming to say the least. We were told by the server not to get the burger how you want it because the new cooks do not know how to cook. I opted for the pulled pork and andouille sausage. My wife got the brisket sandwich. I'll start with the pulled pork. It was dry to start. It tastes like dirty smoke, IYKYK. or maybe too much liquid smoke. It was inedible. The andouille sausage had good flavor once I got past how over smoked it was. The brisket in the sandwich tasted like pot roast. It came with a thick gravy on it. I do not recommend the BBQ from here. I have eaten at a ton of BBQ joints and even got excited when I saw the giant smoker parked on the side. You got to know how to use it to turn out edible BBQ. My daughter got the chicken strips. Couldn't really mess those up. Just toss in the fryer. She enjoyed them. One of my friends got the Mac and cheese with chicken. It was not too bad. Cheesy and enough meat. The cheese curds were great as were the onion rings. The service was a little slow. I think it was more of a kitchen issue.Not too many people in the restaurant. I've previously had very good experiences at Pub 72, so I was shocked by how I was treated when I came in recently. I have drank here before, and they had no issues with my vertical ID, as it hasn't expired yet. But when I came in last night (At time of original review, September 2023) to eat, the server told me she could not serve me as my ID was vertical. Even when I asked if I could just order food, she refused and I was asked to leave. I'm very disappointed, as usually the staff are kind and friendly, but this server has put me off from returning. So if you're looking to drink here on your 21st, be warned your money will be no good here.
