BUYER BEWARE!!! Went to this place Saturday after spending 5 hours on the beach in the hot sun hoping to sit inside the restaurant to have drinks, and seafood. As soon as you walk up the stairs to this restaurant, there is a big sign that said (order here at window.) We both ordered 2 seafood combo plates totaling $68. Immediately after placing our order I asked the girl at the window... we'd like to order mixed drinks aswell. She told us there's a full bar upstairs, but that we can not eat our food and drink upstairs at the same time. The girl then stated your seafood will be ready in 15 minutes. She should have immediately gave us our money back, and told us to order everything upstairs at the bar. A little confused me and my friend continued to the 2nd floor full bar, and order 2 margaritas totaling $31, we left $40 which is a $9 tip for 2 drinks. The bartender then gives us a menu, and asks us if we would like to place an order? We explained that we ordered downstairs, however we'd like to order more drinks, and stay at the bar, or out on 2nd floor deck so we can continue to drink and eat... rudely, she Immediately told us that's not gonna happen, and we have to take our food to go when it's ready. I have never in my entire life been treated so unfairly at a restaurant being a paying customer. What was the issue with grabbing our food from the downstairs and eating it upstairs when there were plenty of seats available??? After our 1 drink, we went downtown stairs to claim our seafood. We asked again if we could please sit inside and order a second mixed drink so we can enjoy our seafood we just paid $68 for? The girl downstairs said that if you ordered from downstairs, you can not order a mixed drink or alcohol as she handed us our order that was prepared to go wrapped in a bag. What kind of restaurant is this???!! Who kicks out a paying customer? Totally stunned we then proceeded to eat outside at the rear picnic table surrounded by hungry seagulls with no alcohol, and nothing to drink. This restaurant should be ashamed for not allowing paying customers to eat indoors, and order alcohol at the same time. Remove the sign that says (order here) when you walk up the stairs next to the door of the building, and explain clearly to patrons BEFORE they order downstairs that you can order seafood and drinks upstairs at the bar only!! This restaurant took our money, and then immediately kicked us out with the seagulls. The seafood was not that good. The scallops and whole belly clams were soggy and lousy like the fryer has not been cleaned in 3 months. We tried feeding some of it to the seagulls since we were now kicked out with them, and even they didn't want any of this seafood. We'll never go back to this seafood "restaurant" again!! Kicked out for being a paying customer!! ...

My wife and I have been loyal and happy customers of Ray’s seafood for years until a recent incident that soured our desire to patronize this establishment. Recently, we stopped in to Ray’s for dinner. Our Server was Sarah G. As it was stated on our receipt. Sarah G. Was less than welcoming, on the borderline of rude. Her attitude was not anything like our past great experiences have been. But everyone is subject to a bad day from time to time. So we dismissed her poor attitude toward us as just that, a bad day. When the bill came, we paid with a credit card and tipped Sarah G 20%. And tacked it on with the bill total. A few days later, we reviewed our credit card summary and discovered Sarah G. had received her tip as well as a secondary tip amount for the same amount separate from the total of the bill, which originally included her tip. That money was taken from our card without authorization as a separate purchase. ( a felony in most states) Folks, watch your credit card. Especially if Sarah G. Is your server. Apparently, Sarah G. Is so slick that she thought we did not recognize her when we returned to seek a resolution to our overcharged amount. (After calling Ray’s 8 separate occasions to a phone number that nobody answers) We spoke with Sarah G. Upon entering Ray’s this evening. She acted as if she did not recognize us. (No to many mixed race couples frequent this establishment.) but I digress, she gave us a nice song and dance about how the credit card system at Ray’s works and some lady that checked credit card purchases on Friday will straighten everything out. We presented Sarah G with the receipts bearing her name, one with the bill total and the other with our itemized purchases. She said she would take the receipts to the manager and advise him of the “error”. We both observed her wrinkle up and toss the itemized purchase receipt, then walk out to the kitchen area, talk with a male in the kitchen (who never even came out to speak with us.) Upon returning, Sarah G only returned the signed receipt with the total amount of the bill and denied ever having the itemized receipt. When we questioned her about this, she suddenly gave us the amount taken from us in cash after the unidentified male in the kitchen told her to do so. What these slicksters didn’t realize is that they attempted to steal from two well trained people in the business of holding people who do things like this accountable. If they were able to try to do this to us, imagine how many others they have gotten with this scheme to defraud. Be alert folks. After speaking with some area residents, we were informed this is why the locals do not patronize this...

Stopped here after a day at the beach for some fresh seafood. Ordered at the window to avoid indoor dining. I think I was only one wearing a mask, including the cooks, which may seem excessive to some, being outdoors and all, but I was in close proximity of guests and staff, so I felt safer doing so. In my opinion, all the staff should be wearing masks preemptively. Sununu really needs to make this official again. We are in the middle of a pandemic, remember people????!!!

The teenage girl at the window gave me an attitude when I apparently was asking too many questions about the menu, which I couldn't find the answer to on my own easily as the sun was setting in my eyes. After I asked what bottled drinks they have, she replied annoyed, that they were listed on the menu. Ok, whatever, do you job, and just tell me, thank you.

The place was busy but the food came out relatively quick. I ordered fried clams dinner. They were fresh and tasted great, but the French fries were mediocre, and small side of coleslaw, combined with a clam chowder and house salad, totalled over 50$, which I think is way over priced for the quantity of food we got. I tipped the rude girl 5$ anyway, even though she didn't deserve it, I used to work in the biz, so I know how it goes.

When I asked where we could sit, we were rudely told we could not sit at the "marsh" outdoor tables, but rather the randomly placed picnic tables hidden between cars in the parking lot. The "marsh" tables were for outdoor sit-down dining customers, and the parking lot tables for the peasants. Honestly, I really couldn't tell the difference as the "marsh" facing tables are also technically in the parking lot, and have terrible ambiance with cars troving by looking for parking.

The girl who called my name and gave me my food, was very friendly, and gave me extra napkins; a refreshing relief from the treatment of the first girl at the window who took my order.

Overall, it was a mixed bag experience. We took our food across the street and ate on the rocks overlooking the ocean. A far better...

Warning, whatever you do don’t come here. Horrible experience. The server was nice but that doesn’t make up for the poor service we received. She barely checked in with us but checked in with this other family across from us at least 6 times. We basically had to get plates and utensils by ourselves too. It might as well been self serve because all she did was take our order and bring us food and the check. We had to wait 30 min to even place our order because it started raining. I understand she had to help move people downstairs but she disappeared after helping people and didn’t come back for another 10 minutes. I’ve worked in a restaurant before, and this behavior is unacceptable. The service was not the only unacceptable part but the food and the prices too. The lobster came with no gloves so we sliced our finger trying to open them (this is the only place I’ve been to that hasn’t provided gloves). The sweet potato fries were hard and not completely cooked/cooked unwell. Also extremely pricey; I understand seafood is expensive but this was way more expensive than other restaurants in the area (save your money and go literally anywhere else). I got a hot lobster roll and it was $34. I’ve attached a picture. It was TINY and half filled. I had to eat a bunch of fries and some of other peoples meals to feel full. AND it tasted old and mushy. How does one get lobster to taste bad? The price for lobster is $9 a pound and this roll was $34 for 4 oz. We also got the coconut shrimp which was 5 tiny pieces of shrimp for $11. It tasted like the frozen ones I get from the supermarket for half the price. These prices are highway robbery and I would be ashamed if I ran this restaurant and charged my customers so much for mediocre food. Save your money, taste buds, and time and go somewhere else.
