They have excellent donuts. BUT misplaced values.

I have been going to them since 1987. Until today, I would have rated them 5 stars.

I bought a raised donut on Sunday at about 10:30am. When I bit into it, the donut was undercooked (the dough collapsed into a disgusting doughy lump).

I went today and told them about it. The 2 women told me that warm donuts do that. It was fully cooled. Then they told me that they knew their donuts and it could NEVER happen. When I told them that I had been a customer for over 25 years, but the donut indeed had been doughy, they told me that I was wrong.

They refused to replace ONE STINKING donut to keep a long-time customer happy.

So, even though the donuts are excellent, the employees' refusal to compensate a loyal customer for one poorly cooked donut is ludicrous.

I had never been to Marie's Donuts, even though I understand it has been around for a long time. I was in Sacramento visiting my daughter and her family and I decided to take my young grandson there because my wife's name is Marie! I was expecting a sit-down place, but instead it's just a little building where you order your donuts from a window outside. But that was fun. The donuts were tasty and fresh. The lady who was working the place (Marie? Probably one in a long line of "Maries".) was very friendly and kind to my 4-year-old grandson. I had wanted a cream-filled donut (as opposed to a custard-filled donut) but they didn't have any. When I asked, the lady said "No problem, I can make you one."
