The search for great Mexican cuisine in Sacramento led me to Roberta's cocina. The restaurant was recommended by a couple we met at a local dig. We were not disappointed. Just a small family owned restaurant. The menu is quite extensive. On this day I ordered the al mojo de ajo Camarones (garlic shrimp). The shrimp were moist and juicy, not overcooked. The sauce tasted like butter, mixed with sliced chilli peppers and garlic slices. They accented the shrimp perfectly. There was a small salad with avocado, lettuce and tomatoes, to be used with the flour tortillas I ordered (corn tortillas are also offered). Mexican rice was also moist and fluffy. The beans were creamy and not lumpy. All was delicious. I also ordered two chico (small) tacos. Al pastor and the other carnitas. They were served Todo (with everything). Salsa, onions, and cilantro. The meat was tender. The carnitas in particular were moist and crunchy with just enough salt seasoning for me. A great place to stop for lunch. They also offer a weekend brunch buffet Weekend brunch time. Bring your appetite mojo with you. Very nice variety of dishes, fajitas, chilli relleno, chilli Colorado, chilli Verde, bacon @ sausage, chorizo and carnitas, three types of soups, menudo, abogondas, pozole, salad bar, custom egg omelets or other styles, freshly made corn or flour tortillas, drinks offered, Mexican style coffee with cinnamon, horchata and hibiscus juice. Flan and Mexican style gelatin for dessert. Yum. So much food to...
Read moreThe service was great. We were greeted and seated immediately, the staff was friendly and on top of our order and refilling sodas. Food arrived quickly. But the food itself was just not tasty. The super burrito my date ordered was mostly rice, with a little beans and meat, no sour cream, guacamole or cheese...everything that makes it super was missing! My meal was a taco salad with carnitas. I’m low-carb so I asked for no beans or rice, and they thankfully left it off. Lettuce was fresh, pieces of meat was either super dried up/crunchy or so fatty I couldn’t eat them, and it was just greasy and tasteless. Even dumping the entire bowl of salsa in it didn’t help. I only ate about half of it. My date had a soda, I drank only water that I had brought in myself. But the worst part was the bill. It was $26 and change for an un-super burrito, a salad and a soda...nothing was itemized so I don’t even know if it was correct. This was our first time there, and...
Read moreWent to breakfast and was very happy with our decision to finally try Roberta's as we've driven by a million times and always said we'd try it but hadn't... until today! Oh my goodness, we've been missing out big time! Hands down the best chorizo and eggs I've had outside of Mexico! We will be back! The coffee was so good I had 2 cups and I usually don't have more than 1. The restaurant is very clean and I enjoyed the decor, the outside patio is a really nice option but it was too early in the morning and there was a little chill in the air for me so we sat inside. Next time we'll go for lunch and sit out there! I can't wait to try the Chili Verde and the carnitas, al pastor and the asada! I really wanna try a michelada too.. they look delicious. That'll be the next test! The beans and rice were perfect, and I hardly ever finish my breakfast beans... not the case today. I ate...
