I saw a couple of spleen-venting One-Star Reviews for Ronnie’s Pizza and Mo’ based on several entitled travelers stopping by the while the shop was unfortunately closed for necessary repairs. It was ill-done. I was embarrassed. A brief rebuttal and review is in order:
All too often, online reviews reveal more about the reviewers’ entitled Egos than than the recipients of their ratings. These are things to pack lightly, or leave back home, when exploring a distant destination, and definitely disregard when planning and enjoying your own experience.
This is particularly applicable when visiting the Caribbean. While St. John is technically an overseas territory of the USA (with abundant conveniences for US citizens), you will undoubtably gain exponentially more from your visit and experience if you check the Ego at the door and assume the attitude of a grateful guest traveling a long ways from home.
In fact, it’s not such a bad idea to act like a guest wherever you are. Respect, humility and gratitude goes a long way; “a brave heart and a courteous tongue will take you far in the jungle, Man-cub.” — The Jungle Book.
So, seek not for the “best” this or the “best” that— an exercise in subjective futility, and all too often an ill-advised broadcasting of one’s own 1-Star qualities.
All that being said, Ronnie’s is excellent. We were lucky to live atop Jakob’s ladder— a mere 2-minute drive away from Ronnie’s new location across from Race Track Gas Station/Dolphin Market-Westin in Cruz Bay, St. John. While we enjoying preparing our own meals at home, Ronnie’s quickly became our go-to guilty pleasure (for skipping the instantaneous drive and indulging in Ronnie’s effortless delivery). Apparently, Ronnie’s recent move allowed for expanded parking and expanded delivery routes.
Pizza is available in substantial single slices (for Grab n Go or accompanying a couple of ice-cold beers and chatting up the staff (if they’re not too busy) and up to large pies. It is difficult to pass up the Meat Lovers. Don’t sleep on the sandwiches — the Meatball in particular. Ronnie is a great-hearted St. John legend who has repeatedly demonstrated his devotion to the St. John Community in the best and worst of times. The Ronnie’s Pizza and Mo’ team has been serving up heart, soul and delicious pizzas (and Mo’) for 23 years and counting. Here’s...

I’ve been a resident of St. John since 1995, and Ronnie has been my Go-To for a delicious slice the entire time. I have watched his family grow from kids to adults, as he has done with my son. We used to go almost daily after school, not just for the food but for the feeling of being in a safe, fun, and familiar space. I’m sure MANY island families have a similar experience.
St. John is a better place with Ronnie and his pizza shop...
Read moreIt’s disheartening to see Ronnie’s Pizza facing criticism for their recent maintenance closure. In a small island business, unexpected issues are inevitable. Their choice to prioritize repairs for safety reasons is commendable. This shows their deep commitment to customer well-being and maintaining high standards. Let’s not forget the countless times Ronnie’s has delighted us with their fantastic pizzas and warm hospitality. They deserve our understanding and continued support. Eager for my next delightful meal...
