Decided to try First Ward House Bar based on a recommendation from a local. The bar has a lot of history and it shows. Our hostess, Bethanie, was wonderful. She is very personable. Pricing is reasonable compared to what we usually spend on food in Denver.

We started with the Vampire Baby garlic cheese curds. They were delicious.

We ordered four different lunch items today. Nachos w/brisket, a chicken wrap, wings and a SJFD burger.

The brisket was fantastic but that’s where the goodness stopped. The chips were crisp, but flavorless. The other condiments fresh, but the queso and salsa were bland.

The wings were incredibly over cooked and tough. The party eating them, said that they were almost un-chewable.

The chicken wrap was fresh, but forgettable. There was very little that made it stand out.

I was very excited about the burger when I ordered it. It had been highly recommended. While it looked good on the menu, the actual burger was very mediocre. Unfortunately they did not ask how I would like the burger prepared so it was incredibly overdone. The sauce was OK but nothing special to write home about. They do offer however, a zombie sauce that I tried and it was fantastic. The coleslaw was very good, very nice and creamy with a slight sweetness. I was also excited to try their homemade french fries. They too were over done, and the oil did not taste fresh so the fries came out a little bit over cooked and soggy at the same time, which I didn’t think was possible.

Overall it was okay “for pub food” but we would not come back for...

We're not sure if the high ratings for this place are because of the atmosphere or because of some amazing live music, but the food was incredibly lousy.

The Cobb salad says that they use greens. I also specifically requested they use greens when I ordered, just in case they tried sliding in iceberg or romaine. I still ended up getting JUST iceberg lettuce that looked like it came out of the package with the carrot shreds.

My sister's grilled tenderloin was tough as rubber, and to make matters worse, the fries seemed like they'd been cooked at least 4 hours before. Unfortunately, we ordered this over the phone and had our brother pick it up for us, if not this food would have been sent back. Highly disappointed with the quality of food, given the reviews...

3 orders of the appetizer GARLIC CHEESE BALLS, it's a MUST HAVE! My sister use to live in St Joe Missouri after college and before having kids. She lives south of st Joe and I live in Southwest Iowa. Meeting in the middle is St Joe Missouri. This place was the best! Keith and I have been telling EVERY single friend of our about First Ward House. I give this place a perfect score. It's kid friendly, atmosphere is outstanding, and nice friendly people with a welcoming smile. I totally felt at home, there even if it was my 1st time there. We had 3 adults, 1 teenage girl and 2 kids 7years old and 2 years old. Thanks to everyone at...

Went to pick up a to go order from this restaurant and was treated horribly by the pretty blonde waitress/bartender in the T-shirt dress. She came over and asked what was on the order, I proceeded to tell her what was on the order, mind you there were 4 items on the order. As I told her the first 2 items she rolled her eyes and said, “I got it” and walked away didn’t even let me finish. I waitressed for 10 years and never treated a customer in this way. Her customer service skills are horrible, not to mention the entire store front on St. Joseph Ave. was filthy. An embarrassment to the entire Northside if I do say so myself.
