Firstly, this is one of the few Chinese places left with a dine-in option. It is a rather cute place. Definitely not your modern “all hard surfaces so it’s hard to talk” place. It is a nice place to sit and talk with family and friends. Booths were nice and cushioned.
The food was delicious and it reminded me of my favorite place from back home in Kokomo IN. Some Chinese food seems like it’s from the same distributer, but not this place. This food was flavorful and slightly different than any other place in the area. I had the lunch sweet and sour chicken special with an order of fried wontons.
The egg rolls in particular were superb. Fresh veggies and meat all wrapped in a flakey and crunchy outside. In my opinion and experience, it is rather hard to find an egg roll with all these qualities. I would drive there just to eat a couple of these bad boys alone.
My only complaint was the rice. It was a bit hard and possibly dried out, but then again I was there at the tail end of lunch. It might have been in a warmer a tad too long. I will definitely be coming here again. And when I do, I will be giving the rice...
Read moreI had been really hopeful for this place because a lot of the reviews were praising it, but I really don't know how they got such good ratings, based on my order alone. We ordered takeout here today. Sweet & sour chicken, a happy family (came with white rice), beef lo mein, and egg rolls. My husband brought the chicken to work, so I'm still waiting to hear if he liked it, but out of the rest of the food, the only passable food was the lo mein noodles, the rice, and the vegetables in the happy family. My daughter, who loves Chinese food, struggled to eat what I put on her plate. I made it half way through an egg roll and just couldn't finish it. Ended up spitting it out and throwing the egg rolls away. I can't even find the words to describe how disappointing and disgusting this food was. I would like to think maybe I caught them on a bad night, but considering the egg roles tasted as though they were stuffed with soggy trash from a dumpster, I'm just not willing to give the food the benefit of the doubt. Horribly disappointed and not ordering...
Read moreWe ate here many times when we lived in Southmoor Shores until moving to Nevada in 2012. My favorite was the outstanding hot and sour soup. My wife's favorite was the won ton soup. I liked the tasty pepper steak. My wife liked the chicken and peapods. I alternately ordered shrimp and peapods. The owners were very friendly providing outstanding service. We often brought out-of-state visitors here. As a member of the Holy Rosary choir, I had great choir dinners here with our director, Brian Rutter. This was Brian's favorite restaurant in St. Marys and the favorite of many...
