This was our last stop before leaving MN. I am not a biscuit person so I ordered something else. This being a pie and biscuit shop that was easy and I had myself a Chicken Pot Pie. Now.. I grew up on frozen pot pies and to this day, I think they are still awesome. So, the real thing will be much better I've always thought to myself. In all my years I've always wanted to try a real chicken pot pie and only once had I ever done so at a Marie Calendar's that was OK. I was ready to try another. Here's my experience.

The pie was visually lovely. Cooked really nicely the crust was evenly browned. I am used to buttery crust and this was not that. It was crust flavored and was not strong in character but was perfectly edible and had a nice fell to it and was not under or over cooked. When you under cook it then it is a doughy mess. This did not have that problem. After breaking through the top crust I noted that this version of Chicken Pot Pie was more dry than expected. I am used to the gravy of frozen pies so this was very different from that. The chicken portion was generous with a combination of white and dark meats and the flavor was subtle not strong. I like strong flavors. All in all, the experience was fine but not exciting. The portion was large enough to feed 2, especially if you want to try other things in the restaurant. We found that ordering an extra portion of the gravy they sold with the biscuits enhanced the pie significantly. Matter of fact, I'd recommend this if my Pot Pie experience was standard for them. The biscuit gravy is quite good.

I'll comment on 2 other items I tried here. First, the cherry pie. Beautiful in presentation, generous in portion and cherries. It is very tart. I understand this is expected for these kinds of cherries. It was too tart for me. The crust was not flavorful and disappointingly the bottom crust was not good. It seemed undercooked and was doughy and foldable - without breaking. The whipped cream was light and good. I can only imagine this was not their typical pie experience but unfortunately, it was mine. I wouldn't take it as a sign that their pie's are not good, but just as a consideration.

The other item is their cinnamon roll. Ordered one and optioned for it to be warmed. It took a while for it to come out. +7 mins I believe. Perhaps they were waiting to serve it with the other ordered foods but I ordered it separately. When it came out, as expected it was a beautiful presentation. Taste wise - it was very dry. Contrary to my experience it even got my dry as you reached the center of the roll which is almost always the real treat of cinnamon roll experience. The amount of cinnamon used was too much for us and also increased as we worked our way to the center of the roll. It smelled and tasted like Christmas potpourri. This is not good and we did not finish it. I make Cinnamon Rolls myself at home and often buy commercial rolls so I have a bit of experience in the cinnamon roll world. This one seemed boutique-ish and not it a good way.

I am leaving this experience as a 3 star where my personal experience was 2 based on my limited tastings. Things like the breakfast sandwich and Biscuit and gravy were notably good per my fellow travelers so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt. I leave you with an - I would try it again but not go out of my way to do so. I wouldn't talk you out of trying it...

WOW! Was not disappointed. If you are debating this I would just try it!

Was recommended this place from a neighbor.. woke up this morning craving a biscuit sandwich and a nice home made breaky. Made our way to the Hot Hands off Snelling and walked in, nice peach color walls, inviting atmosphere and windows to the kitchen to see how it’s all crafted.

Many pastries and desserts for everyone’s liking but that is not where my taste buds were drawn too. Went to the counter and ordered a ham and pimento cheese biscuit and my girlfriend got the maple chicken biscuit + we added the loaded potatoes. I was thinking this was just a regular old hole in the wall with an okay breakfast.. NOPE.. This place blew my cravings out of the water.. first bite of the biscuit was phenomenal. Creamy pimento cheese, delicious ham, and warm flaky biscuit.. I’m hooked.. this is just 1 part of our 3 piece breakfast. I got to try my Gf’s chicken sandwich, also delicious. Hers was a little messy but wow the crispy chicken, was a delicacy I don’t always eat but you pair that with the same style biscuit and it’s muah bakers kiss. Now you’d think I would be done with these two delicious sandwiches .. nope. The breakfast potatoes were way better than any potatoes I have had in months.. they were cut into decent sliced slivers with their seasoned mayo and garnished with chives I think. Imagine biting into the softest warm potatoe that feels like a mashed potatoes with the creamy mayo elevating the experience to the next level.. i could go on and on about it.

Price is a little up there but paid $45 for 2 sandwiches and the potatoes. BUT I’m super contempt and would like to come back to try the other goodies here.

5/5 would recommended and coming back maybe in a few weeks. Don’t...

I ate here last weekend. I had the maple chicken biscuit. It was phenomenal. The biscuit on it’s own was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was fluffy and buttery with just the right amount of salt. The bacon was made perfectly, it melted on the tongue and was so crispy. The fried chicken was awesome and the maple syrup really pulled all of the flavors together. Afterword, we got four different slices of pie to try. All of which were delicious, high quality, and clearly made with care. The marshmallow topping on the key lime pie has a gorgeous pattern on it. The cherry pie has SUCH a good crust, and the cherries weren’t mushy at all. The banana cream pie was absolutely spectacular. The corn custard pie with blueberry compote was not for me, but my dad loved it. The decor in this restaurant is really nice. I love that they use vintage baking tools as a part of their aesthetic. The pink walls are super cute, and when you walk into the restaurant it smells so good. My experience here was amazing and I will definitely be...

We stopped on Saturday morning, and were not disappointed. We arrived hungry and left with extras. DELICIOUS!!! We ordered the breakfast biscuit, the biscuits and gravy, the pimento biscuit, brownie, vanilla cream pie and the banana cream pie. All were fabulous! We took home a chicken pot pie. It reheated well in the oven and was absolutely outstanding. Everything was delicious!!! Possibly better than mom used to make. Shhhhh. There is a parking lot in the back, behind the building. There is also street parking available. The restaurant was clean, tables were well spaced, masks were required. Staff wore masks and gloves. Everything seemed extra clean. I especially love that they have a pay it forward clothes line type thing (see photo). You can purchase a piece of pie and give it to anyone. You can also partake of a slice of pie if you are running short of funds. Clever idea, and I love it!

It took us several months to stop in because we didn't know if we needed a Pie and Biscuit place in our lives. We weren't sure what to expect. The first time we came in I was like wow, I really wish we'd come here 6 months ago. The pot pie, the biscuit with jam, the breakfast sandwich, the sweet pies. All stellar. This was the seasonal BLT. I almost didn't order it. When I took my first bite I literally said out loud to my wife, "I can't believe I considered ordering anything else." Free coffee refills, stellar vibes, love the indoor plants that all have been given names, love an open/visible bakery, you can buy an extra pie certificate and they keep them for anybody who needs/wants a free piece of pie. And the crowning glory for me is the thick, meaty, chewy crispy bacon that they put way too much of on sandwiches but somehow it's still the perfect amount.
