I had the pleasure of trying Pappy's burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms, and I must say, it was a delightful culinary experience. The moment I took a bite, the flavors harmonized beautifully, and the perfectly melted Swiss cheese added a creamy and savory element to the burger. The mushrooms provided a delightful earthy taste that complemented the juicy patty flawlessly. The portion size was just right, allowing me to savor each mouthful without feeling overwhelmed.

But it wasn't just the burger that impressed me. The accompanying fries were a true delight. They were freshly cooked to perfection, with a crisp golden exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. Each bite offered a satisfying crunch followed by a delightful burst of potato goodness. The fries were seasoned just right, enhancing their natural flavor without overpowering it. They were the ideal companion to my burger, adding an extra element of satisfaction to the meal.

I also had the opportunity to taste my friend's Philly sandwich, and I must say, it exceeded expectations. The sandwich was bursting with flavor and juiciness, with tender and succulent meat that was cooked to perfection. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, and the combination of flavors worked harmoniously together. My friend couldn't stop raving about how unexpectedly juicy and fresh the sandwich was, and I couldn't agree more.

I highly recommend giving it a try and indulging in their...

The food was good.

The drink machine wasn't working.

The lady at the register was laughably incompetent.

There was a sandwich labeled meat lovers on the menu, I asked her what it was. Her answer was 'do you want fries with that?' No, what's the meat lovers. 'you want Philly?' no, what's on the meat lovers? Cook had to come out and answer.

They had 6, 8, and 12 inch sandwich options. I ordered a 12 inch, fries, drink. She said 'you want a combo'. Looking at the price it appeared the combo was for a 6 inch. I asked "what size is the combo? 6, 8, or 12". Mass confusion. The cook had to come out again. Combo was 6 inch, they didn't have 8 inch any more.

Another customer wanted his catfish cooked soft because he had no teeth. She thought he wanted extra lemongrass. No. He even removed his mask to show no teeth TWICE trying to get her to understand. And eventually the cook came out to figure it out.

Yet another customer went up and asked for mayonnaise. She told him "pepsi products" and pointed at the drink machine which was now working. No, I want mayonnaise! "It's working now" No! The white stuff, Mayo! Mayo for my catfish!..and again the cook had to come out and figure it out at which time she gave him one single...

Quick lunch break, decided to have Gyro, so very convenient to Pappys. I am out of towner with two coworkers local folks. Very good menu. Saw something for the first time, Gyro Philly Sandwich!!! Nice I will try this. The Gyro meat was good mixed with Philly cheese and grilled onion and green pepper slices served on a warm 6in bun. Excellent sandwich. My coworkers ordered regular Gyro sandwiches. Fast and friendly service. I will say two things. I know it is easy to say, very hard to do, I think the place needs a face lift. Keep the local homey comfortable decor but do a bit of upgrade and clean up. I am really sorry , I know running and just getting everything done to prepare and serve the food, no time and no extra money to do the uplift. But I mean, you got good comfort food menue, hopefully improving the place will lift up sales. The second thing is the very large menue. Simplify cut the menue into half of the most popular entrees and reduce the overhead on the supplies, and managing the food preparation. It is a very nice corner eatery, local and authentic. I recommend the place. And it has good potential to become the neighborhood place for good food...

Sitting here now, and let me start by saying don't let the looks deceive you. The place is a little "hole in the wall" or, rundown if you must. On that note, the staff are so friendly and attentive. The food... well I can say two number 5s (Vienna dog x2 baskets) are completely extinct. Fries were cooked perfectly to my liking. When you are eating, it's a song in your soul that soars through your belly and into the atmosphere. When you are about to pass Pappys, just stop. Or order delivery as I saw an Uber eats picking up food. You won't believe what you've been driving by all this time. I'm about 30 min from home currently and was only passing through for Christmas shopping. The last time I had a Vienna was about 12 years ago in Northfield, MN but they closed. Can intensely say I am so glad I stopped. 2 people, full, smiling and enjoying the things most are just whizzing by.

Pappy's is simply fantastic. If you want that classic Chicago style eatery feel in the Twin Cities, Pappy's is the place to be. A grand variety of food including real deal Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago Dogs, Maxwell Street polish, gyros, burgers, wings, catfish, and more! Delicious french fries plus awesome mild/hot sauce! Prices are affordable, customer service is good, and they are currently remodeling the place to make it better than ever. Be sure to try the two Chicago Dog special with fries/drink for just $7.99. Eat in or take out, both are great!Highly recommended!

Good tasting fried okra is a true treat for me. The fam loved the wings (honey bbq & teriyaki) and lots of BEEF gyro. If you like more veggies in your gyro ASK for veggies. In person service was great, but ordering online was a fail. When I tried to leave a tip, TOAST froze, showed a "thank you" screen...but did NOT submit the order. We live close by, so (re)ordered in person and got back home to eat under 20 minutes!
