AVOID AT ALL COSTS
An unfortunate change to a wonderful St. Paul establishment. Spicy Feta was previously the Naughty Greek, a Twin Cities staple. The best Greek food in the area, hands down, and enjoyed by many. When the Naughty Greek was transformed into Spicy Feta, there was hope that this moniker would remain, but it was not to be.
Spicy Feta seems to have taken the dishes that made the Naughty Greek so beloved and bastardized them to save a buck. The pork gyro and "naughty fries" have been irreparable changed, for the worse. Gone is the slow roasted, hand prepared, donner pork of old, and instead it has been replaced with Sysco gyro slabs that can be found on any street meat cart. The fries were once thin, crispy, and seasoned to perfection, but have been replaced with frozen grocery store fries that are so thick they remain cold on the inside even after cooking. Even the quality of feta and chipotle mayo that went atop the fries has been lowered. (And somehow prices went up?)
Both these dishes are staples of any casual Greek spot, and if their quality is any indication, avoid the new and "improved" Naughty Greek at all costs. They had pocket aces and chose to fold. "Why mess with perfection?" I asked myself over and over as I struggled to finish the most painfully mediocre gyro I've ever eaten.
To the new owners, I hope the extra money saved in food costs is worth all the customers that you'll inevitably lose with these chances. Best of luck, and see y’all at the...
Read moreNothing to complain about! the atmosphere is lovely for a lunch get together or dinner date! It’s an order then sit type of restaurant yet it’s nice inside which I personally like! my husband isn’t a biggest fan of Mediterranean like I am because he likes spicy food, we both got the spicy Apollo bowl with chicken ($14) I added pickles (+$0.75) and lettuce (+$0.50) to mine and let me tell you, they don’t mess around with the spice!! It was bursting with flavor and you could tell the food was made with quality in mind! Quite possibly the best Mediterranean restaurant meal I’ve ever had! If you don’t like spice, don’t do the spicy Apollo bowl!! And the pita was of course wonderful and complimented the bowl perfectly! The service was good! Since we weren’t waited on like a typical sit down restaurant I can’t say a ton about the service, but the lady by the kiosks that you order on was helpful and willing to explain any of the items on the menu! the portions are perfect! My husband ate majority of his, but I could only eat about half! (There’s my lunch for another day!) so In my opinion it was very good portions...
Read moreI visited spicy feta for the first time today and I had an amazing experience. Although I was only taking-out, I had an opportunity to talk and look over the menu with an employee, explaining what each item was and what it had on it. I never eaten here before so I didn’t know what to expect, but both the people I talked to were extremely helpful. I ended up getting the Naughty Greek wrap with a side of fries. It was almost a Mediterranean burrito style wrap, the chicken, Shawarma was super juicy and flavorful, and it paired well with the veggies, feta, and Taziki. The only thing I didn’t like about my wrap is I asked for no olives and there was olives, however it was still delicious. The fries are light and airy, but super crispy and seasoned perfectly with a savory salty spice blend. One of the people I talk to let me sample out their lemonades, and help me decide which one I wanted. They were very patient and helpful and I will...
