Billy's Barn — Restaurant in Salem

my wife and son Karl were traveling back from playing Savannah Ga to upstate New York and stopped too eat at Billy's Barn ,the food and service was excellent.The waitress was cordial and exemplified a down home presence in attitude which made my wife ,son and I extremely comfortable.Then to our surprise as professional musicians ,there were these fine musicians playing our kind of music.I ask the waitress if i could jam with the gentlemen Foster,Matt and i believe Dan ,so she asked Foster and he permitted both my son and I to play.It was phenomenal .these cats could hang with any of us New Yorkers.Foster had an excellent voice and stage presence and the drummer ,bass guitar held the pocket as good as any pro we have worked with and we play across the US.recently in Austin Texas and Tuscan Az.However,the food we had was as good as any where we dined on our trip and the waitress and chef took care of my wife and her several allergies so she could have an enjoyable meal and the club is set up and has the appearance and character of a true American Roadhouse.I would play and eat there any time and encourage all who travel through too stop and enjoy excellent food and entertainment(especially if Foster and the Boys are playing) THANKS, Rod and Karl...

Went to watch a band. Wanted to grab a burger before the kitchen closed. Waitress came by, asked for a menu and told her what we wanted to drink. Fifteen minutes passed, same waitress came back over to check in. Asked about our drinks and getting a menu again, when she responded that the kitchen had already closed. Each time we got up to dance on the dance floor, we would return to our drinks gone and table cleaned off (our coats, purses, etc were still at the table). Had to get up a total of 3 separate times to get more drinks from the bartender, who apologized each time. Main issue I saw was the bathrooms (2 toilets in women's with no wall or dividers at all, out of toilet paper, and the men's room toilet was stopped up). Overall nice venue, have been coming here for years, and will continue...

Fantastic food. Absolutely the best food during my week long business trip to Roanoke. Steak was prepared better and had a better flavor than a well known steak house 10 min away (visited other location as well). Environment and decor may not be to most people's liking. If you are looking for Texas Roadhouse style amenities and decor then this is not for you. If you want the best steak in Roanoke (IMO) then this is your destination. The Friday night I was here, they had live music as well as a dance floor. I will definitelt return here when...
