10-6-2022 7:30PM. Ordered takeout for 3 adults. 2 Med pizzas, one small calzone. Arrived 12 minutes early, picked up order immediately (!), the bill was * The Medium size Pepperoni pizza looked great, was perfectly cooked ( a light brown toasting to the bottom, slight crunch when biting into it) , and it had very good flavor. Overall, it had a nice "mouth feel", the cheese(s) were smooth and it It was not greasy at all. Good marinara sauce. Each piece of pizza tended to flop downward as I brought it toward my mouth. The edge crust was a medium brown and was perfect for post-dinner snacking dipped into their Ranch Dressing. Overall we would give it 9.0 out of 10. * The Medium size Supreme looked great, had bacon, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, red onion, mozzarella and probably parmigiana (given its wonderful flavor). The underside crust was a perfect light-medium brown, the bite feel was a very slight crunch and the cheese(s) were smooth. Good marinara sauce. The edge crust was a medium brown and was delicious when dipped into their supplied ranch dressing. Yummy. Three different people agreed that the Supreme was a 9.5 on a scale of 10. ** The small Calzone was 95% "plain calzone" with ricotta, mozzarella, marinara sauce and a touch of basil. I also added spinach to be added, since my wife loves spinach. The calzone looked great, perfectly brown-glazed with some light seasoning sprinkled on top and 5-6 slits in the top layer of dough (for venting). Magazine photo quality for sure. They supplied both a small containers of mild marina sauce and a more lively ranch dressing. I was eager to take a bite as I love a good calzone - and the pizza I has already tried had psyched me out for greatness. Here goes . . . ah, nice flavor, the marinara is a bit bland, the somewhat thick dough is tasty but two layers is a bit too much and the cheese - its not very creamy at all, but the flavor is ok - I mean you expect subtle flavor from ricotta and expect the marinara to compensate, but the texture, the mouth feel of the cheese mixture was not right - it was very granular as if some of the cheese was a "shake-on" type were the cheeses were not fully melted into a smooth coherent creme or they were not mixed together well or both. Ricotta should always be a bit on the moist-creamy side going into a great calzone, but this ricotta was much too dry and granular. We all gave this calzone a 4.0 on a 10...
Read moreOne evening last week I had a very enjoyable meal at Gusto's. It was still raining in our region, however Gusto's has a delightful outdoor seating area with cover, comfortable seats, garden/patio decor for atmosphere and great cafe string lighting. As an outdoor dining extreme fan I find this one of theirgreatest attributes and one of the most atmospheric outdoor settings in the valley. The server was very prompt, friendly and thorough with menu explanations and suggestions and perfect guest attentive timing as I took a bit to make decisions, filling my beverage etc. I had the 6 wings as appetizer split between 2 flavors, kick'in bourbon and parmesan garlic. These wings were huge, the sauces delicious and their presentation upon serving was a vision feast. I am not typically a big wing fan, but these would make me one. As an entree I had the cheesesteak sub with fries at the server's recommendation which was spot on. The sub was hearty and flavorful, the fries plentiful. The only down side to dinner that night for me was they carry soda products which are not the ones I drink; so no beverage purchase. This was my third ever meal at Gusto's; one prior for dinner one with a large party for lunch; both of those occasions being approximately a year ago or so.To be candid this dining experience left a much stronger impression of excellence than my first visits which were adequate, yet not...
Read moreAfter a 3 hour ride back home, we decided to eat out and choose pizza. We pass Gustos Pizza place every time we head home from shopping and decide to stop in and give it a try. At the entrance, we were welcomed by a out door sitting area. This area was dull looking. Although there were tables and chairs, everything looked thrown around. We entered into a small sitting area that held about 30 to 35 guests. We sat at a 2 seater and was greeted by the server and asked for 2 unsweetened teas. As we looked over a full service menu, I tried a sip of my tea. It tasted like suds. The server ( no name tag) replaced them with water. We ordered or food. I requested a Hawaii pizza and a side salad. My husband ordered, and the server came out to say they were out of that dish. He reordered, and then my salad was served. The cucumbers had been frozen and were very nasty. Our main dish arrived. My pizza was ok. The pineapple was not drained, and the pizza had a pile of juice in the middle. The Chicken Alfredo was hot and delicious. I will have to say that our visit was not good and we will probably...
