(TL;DR at the bottom) Spouse and I looked up places to eat and this one caught our eye. We were in Salem for the weekend, from Seattle area. We ended up ordering to-go because we had our furbaby with us. The customer service was absolutely amazing, so so nice! It was a nice change to the subpar customer service we normally encounter in depressed and gloomy Washington. I ended up waiting inside the restaurant after I ordered, and the food took quite a long time to come out. Other people came in after me and sat down received their food long before I got mine. Mind you I only ordered for 2 😕 ... The waiters noticed it was taking a bit long and offered me something on the house more than once, which, hello, great customer service! But to which I declined. I did not want to take away from a small business just because I know COVID took a hard hit on everybody. We got our food and ate at the hotel we stayed at. Both of us loved it and we will return once we go to Salem again! Giving 5 stars because of the customer service alone!!
TL;DR - Amazing customer service! Food came out a bit late but they made up for it. Will...
Read moreThis is my second time going so let’s summarize both First time: Breakfast Order hashbrowns eggs bacon with a side of gravy. Did not finish the meal. The gravy was crazy sweet I asked for crispy (extra cooked hashbrowns) they still came slightly under done and over medium eggs. They were over easy. Paid $22. Only good thing was my hot cocoa. Servers were nice
2nd time: lunch Ordered fish and chips with onion rings chowder and clam chowder The clam chowder had a good taste but needed to be thicker. Very watery. I was able to finish it though. I ate one of the pieces of fish. It tasted like the box pieces you get from Walmart and it was cold in the middle. The ranch was also off tasting. The tartar sauce was not very good. The onion rings were not the best either. I paid 24.95 for everything.
The staff was rushing people to sit this time as a customer I don’t want to hear a waitress with a snarky tone saying “you can sit wherever you want everyone just rushed in we’re playing catchup” as they are also standing and conversing with customers about nonsense
I still tipped well both times to be polite but I...
Read moreThis is your classic diner – you know, the place with 1950's magazine clippings under the clear table covers, where most everything is made from scratch and the working class regulars are on a first-name basis with the staff. Our server Lisa was very attentive, keeping our coffee filled and getting our orders straight. I ordered the homemade corned beef hash, which is a full meal with egg and a bread. You don't see homemade hash too often and let me tell you, it really hit the spot. You get a choice on having the potatoes plain or with peppers and onions cooked into it. I went with the peppers/onions option. Really good. My wife ordered the #5, which is a choice-cut Angus steak with eggs, hash browns and a bread (she choice a biscuit.) The steak was very tender and tasty, nice fluffy biscuit, perfect hash browns. So if you're in the mood for some good homemade American breakfast food, Josey's is a...
