This place is very good. Miles above In-N-Out. I would say the burger places around Salem I would rate thusly: (from lowest to highest) : In-N-out (fresh but bland), Five guy(not really fresh AND bland), Nancy's (fresh with some flavor but not enough), McDonald (not fresh but tastes good), Killer burger (fresh and tastes good) and number one burgers are at the Stonefront Bar in South Salem on commercial street (Fresh, tastes good, juicy, just excellent)
I had the "Fun Guy" burger. It was actually very good.
However, I think at least 60% of the flavor of the burger comes from their special sauce. Without that, I think it would be only a "decent" burger, and in face the sauce tends to be a bit much. For example, the "Fun Guy" burger I got was supposed to essentially be a mushroom and swiss. I could not taste the Swiss fondue at all. It was entirely overpowered by their special burger sauce. If you get a mushroom and swiss at other fast food places it has a distinct "sharp and salty" swiss flavor. The Fun Guy burger did not. The mushrooms were great though.
I also tasted my wifes "Bender" burger and it has pretty good flavor too.
All of the burgers come with bacon. The bacon is pointless . You can't taste it because the sauces they put on the burgers are a stronger flavor. So it just adds fat and calories for no reason. It doesn't really add and texture either. I think you wouldn't even tell the difference without bacon.
The fries were "ok" . I feel like they could have been cooked longer, honestly. They had plenty of salt which I usually like. But they were still not as good as I have had other places. I did end up eating a lot of the fries though, so they were acceptable. I personally wouldn't bother buying the fries but they came with my invitation deal so I thought I would try them. These days when I eat out I don't usually order fries anymore anyway. Another reason I rate Stonefront Bar as better is because I can get Tots instead of fries, Tots are way better of a side.
We waited probably about 30min after ordering, they bring the food out to your table. I wasnt bothered by the wait since they were in training...
Read moreI stopped by this new to me burger joint just a few days after opening. It was Thursday at 2:30pm. The online ordering was not yet up as the new restaurant employees are still getting the feel of everything and trying to serve in person customers as quick as possible. The line was to the door. Took less than 10 minutes to get my order placed by the 1 person taking orders. Waited about 15 minutes for my food to be ready. I was kindly greeted upon entry by a manager who was letting people know the wait was 10 min plus 20-25min after ordering. It actually went quicker than I was advised to expect. I went outside my comfort zone and ordered the PB bacon burger. It was just under $11 for just the 1/3lb burger. Another $3.50 to add on fries which comes with a choice of sauce a selection of about six. I opted for the house sauce for my fries. Added on a fountain drink for another $2.95. Craft beers were available for $6.00 as was one hard cider option. I think domestic beers were less. My burger was tasty and messy. Loved the PB sauce. It was a sweet crunchy PB and paired well with the pickle and bacon. All their burgers come with bacon. The fries looked homemade and were good but a bit on the dry side. The house sauce was more vinegar pickle flavor than mayo based. I think I will opt for a different fry sauce next time probably the PB sauce that was on my burger. I like PB and don't usually opt for bacon on my burgers but this burger tasted great. Very different and pleasing to the taste buds. I ate the entire burger and was quite full but not stuffed. Was full enough to not finish the fries. Over all I will stop here on occasion for an indulgence but at just under $20/person for a "full meal deal" I would not consider it family friendly on the budget. It definitely is a niche burger and I did hear the manager say they have had a line from open to close since opening a few days ago. Upload their app for a free sharable fry($6 value) and rewards. Their app was down when I visited so I have about a month to redeem...
Read moreWas in the area. Saw the sign for Killer Burger. Decided to give it a try. Upon walking in the atmosphere is laid-back and chill music playing just at a perfect volume. Wooden structure centered in room with glass windows all over the outside the building. I was greeted by a lady who had a huge smile on her face, and when I told her that this was my first time being in the establishment, she very politely was able to tell me I can answer any questions you may have. I pointed at the menu of three different burgers that I was thinking about trying, and she pointed out 2 out of the 3 of those were her most favorite . I decided to go with a Jose Mendez burger. The burger has a nice hand, pressed burger, patty, bacon, roasted green chilies, Monterey, Jack, cheese, grilled onions, pickle slices the length of a spear pickles, and a killer house sauce. I asked what kind of fries they had. They only have one style and they have probably a dozen different dipping sauces to choose from. I asked for a recommendation and since I like spicy, I went further cheese, mayo, spicy dipping sauce, which goes on most of all their burgers, and it was amazing. On first bite of the burger it had the most flavorful packed seasoned well, burger that I have ever tasted. I was able to order a boneyard RPM beer to go with it and I strongly recommend this establishment to anybody anytime over Nancy Jos or five guys hands-down one of the best burger joints I’ve ever tasted.
Came back here today, almost a week later, and now I am trying the Motley Que burger. Comes with bacon, crispy onions, tangy bbq, Monterey Jack cheese, killer house sauce and grilled onions. Again the amazing Spicy G sauce for the fries : spicy mayo cranked up to eleven. Amazing taste! Great flavors! And again amazing staff. Good beer selections!...
