Not Your Mama's Kitchen — Restaurant in Salem

I admit I was initially skeptical to try this place out given it's modest location. I am happy to say I was blown away by the quality of the food!! It's the hidden GEM of Salem, Arkansas!! +The place is very clean. +The owners are very friendly and welcoming and observant. He noticed I am limping and have knee braces and kindly brought my food to my car. +They make the chips and fries from scratch, not using gross premade Sysco foods +They're chicken salad sandwich is filling and tasty. Best part no raw onions. I love that the fruit salad is tropical fruits, it's refreshing. (I am allergic to cantaloupe and honeydew so normally I don't eat fruit salads most places make) They're open Tuesday through Saturday 10:30AM to 7:00PM I will definitely be back here, so happy I am no longer just stuck with the 2 fast options when I am running errands.

Update: I am happy to say everything I have tried on the menu has been very tasty. The specials are fantastic. I recommend calling ahead your order for lunch time as they can get really busy then. Amazing...

A GEM! Steve and John I believe give their community something more than just incredibly delicious food and it’s LOVE.

Steve is fulfilling a dream and in my experience those fulfilling dreams bring their communities wonderful things.

This time it happens to be one of my favorite things…FOOD!

I had pulled pork…best I’ve ever tasted! Homemade potato chips…delicious! Coleslaw…. Perfect! Chocolate chip banana bread…awesome! BBQ Sauce… good enough that I’m stopping by again on my way back to northern Illinois to get more of it and Banana Bread.

Everything is scratch made and I must admit I’m a little bit jelly for those that live within an hours drive.

Steve follows inspiration with his cooking with a changing menu every week. For those that like a standard menu Steve also has that.

Oh…. did I mention Not Your Mamas Kitchen is award winning in the state of Arkansas and I believe would receive awards on the national stage.

I had the cowboy burger that was absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in years for sure. The kids each got a cheeseburger, that they loved. The homemade fries are amazing. They alone are worth a drive just to get. The price, quality and serving size are exceptional ! Can’t wait to come through on a Saturday to get some of their pulled pork.
