Prismatic Coffee Company — Restaurant in Salem

I have raved about this place to many of my family and friends, but I have recently been disappointed with my experience. I tried to deal with these issues privately, but they didn’t seem to be a priority for the owners.

I wanted to share some feedback on the service we have received over the past few weeks. I don’t know the barista's name, but she is Caucasian and has shorter hair. Something went wrong every time she made our drinks during our last few visits. Initially, we brushed it off, thinking it was just due to being busy, but after today, I’m starting to feel that this may be intentional.

On one occasion, I ordered my son a kid's drink. While making it, she commented about how people are spoiling kids these days, along with other rude remarks, all while I stood just a few feet away waiting for my drinks. As a paying customer, I find it unprofessional for someone to make comments like that in front of me.

On another visit, we ordered two vanilla lattes iced as usual. She called out one drink as an "iced vanilla latte." After a while, she set my other drink down without saying anything, so I walked up and asked, "Is this my other drink?" I ordered a vanilla latte iced, and she told me that she hadn’t added any vanilla to either drink, despite my order for vanilla lattes and her calling out an iced vanilla latte!

On yet another occasion, I ordered the Butterfly Effect drink, and she asked if it was to go. I confirmed I wanted it to go, but she made the drink for here instead and handed it to me. When I reminded her that I had ordered it to go, she asked if she could pour it into a cup. However, another employee informed her that this would mess up the layering. She then proceeded to remake the drink with an attitude as if the mistake was somehow my own.

Despite these encounters, we continued to bring our business in at least 4 to 5 times a week.

Recently, we brought in good friends who were visiting from out of town, and to our embarrassment, that same barista seemed to have issues again. After making our friend's drink incorrectly twice, we tried to ask for the correct one politely but were asked to pay for another drink as if it were our mistake.

It felt childish for an employee to make faces, roll her eyes, and say “Uuhh” while dealing with a customer. The lack of accountability during this experience has helped us see how loyal customers are valued. It’s astonishing that there was poor communication among the employees, but somehow, the customers were blamed for making up...

The folks at Prismatic are absolutely fantastic! Every time I visit, it feels like stepping into a friend’s home. The shop has this warm and inviting atmosphere. And let me tell you, their coffee is incredible! The roaster deserves all the accolades. Prismatic takes great pride in their coffee-making process, and it shows in every cup.

If you’re looking for a place that’s not only welcoming but also has great coffee, pastries, and food, I highly recommend Prismatic. Whether you’re a coffee lover or just want to try a new brew, you won’t be disappointed.

And don’t forget to stay for the environment too! It’s just as comforting as the coffee itself.

These guys know how to make good coffee for people that like to drink good coffee, this is hands down the best caffeine joint in town. From the wonderfully crafted beverages, to the gorgeous flavor of their very own roasted beans, to the friendly service (we always feel so welcomed!) this place hits all the marks for us. We love having this gem of a place within walking distance, we are so fortunate. We cannot wait for your building to be complete, we are excited and wish the best for you.
