This brewery would have received a 5 star rating up until our last 15 minutes. Today was our third visit. Each time we purchased several beers, food, and up until today beer to go. The food is AMAZING!! we have tried various things and everything is delicious. The Centi-Mental IPA is our beer of choice. We all agreed this was our favorite beer since we started hiking the CDT. We try to venture to as many breweries as we can in between towns.
Here was our issue...this afternoon we ventured for food and beer. Between the three of us we have probably had over 30 Centi-Mental IPA’s...not all today of course. Today we all drank one, one in our party had two. We went back up to order two more...one to share between me and my husband and another for one single individual. We all agreed something was WRONG with this round. We had one from our party go back to the bar and ask if maybe the tap had been changed but was told nope. Same beer. We witnessed the bartender along with someone else at the bar test it. Both said it tasted fine to them. So we all tried one more taste. NOPE...terrible. Something was wrong. There was a clear after taste that just wasted right. So we brought our beers back to the bartender and told her we wanted to cash out. Sadly, they didn’t offer us fresh beers in new glasses just in case our after taste was from something in the glasses, didn’t offer us another beer option, nor did they take off the two beers. They actually charged us for the two beers that were literally sitting on their bar. Never have I ever said to a bar that their beer tastes sour or something so wrong and it not be replaced. Just amazed.
The food and beer is usually amazing but I won’t be back. And I will make sure that the word gets around with the other CDT hikers that will be coming through...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Soulcraft in Salida last week and were absolutely appalled by the level of service here, or lack thereof. We sat at the bar for a full 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged our presence. It was clear that this individual was angry and annoyed with us from the moment we walked in. Over what, I am not sure. My wife is an extremely outgoing and nice person and this person was dead set on creating a bad experience from the get go, mocking us during our entire visit. Despite making eye contact with us multiple times and no acknowledgement (then quickly looking away), they proceeded to help another customer close their tab at the point of sale system before they stooped down to walking over to us.
When the bartender finally approached us, they did so without a greeting or even a hint of friendliness. Instead, they barked in the most condescending way, "What're you drinking?" My wife was visibly uncomfortable with the bartender's abrupt and dismissive attitude.
To say the service was poor here is an understatement. We have never been treated so rudely trying to check out and support a small brewery before, never again.
If you're looking for a brewery near Salida, please do yourself a favor and drive the 5 minutes down US-50 to Elevation Brewing. The staff at Elevation are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to serve you. I'm telling you, do not come here. Looking at other reviews, it seems other customers have had run-ins with...
Read moreEDIT: The owner responded to my review and I thank him / her. I in no way meant to disparage anybody by using the term bar flies. What I meant to say was that the half dozen people actually sitting at the bar received hardly any service from the bartender, because that's your system and he was working for the whole room. And that was the first for me.
I love breweries. The beer here is fine and so is the facility. The service is confusing to non-existent. They actually have the bar flies trained to get up from their bar stool and go to the "ordering place" (15 feet away, down the bar) to order and pay for food, then go outside to the food truck to pick up the food, then back inside to the other end of the bar to find the fixings and napkins. I could not find a napkin nor would the bartender give me one until it was time to pay my bill and my greasy cheese steak hands just couldn't function. I know breweries have to do creative solutions with food and service but this is over the top. When it came time to pay I had to choose the "custom tip" option to tip lower than the...
