Awesome stay at this hotel. My daughter and I were snowed out of our place locally so we decided to get a room In town for the night, stopped at a few other hotels in salida but it was after 10 pm and most were either closed, way over our price range, or had a great room price but a huge deposit, that made it out of our price range again. So on a fairly limited but reasonable budget for a room with the added caveat of having a service dog with us coupled with our timing being after 10:30 pm our hope for finding a place for the night was not looking very promising at all, I thought the only chance for a room that night would mean a 2 hour late night drive to Colorado Springs. We tried a few other places in town only to find that they were closed, or over our budget. ( think I only had $175 and it seemed like we should have plenty for a room on a Tuesday night but with the strict deposits especially when mentioning our service dog (who is btw more respectful in hotels then most people, never doing anything in a room destructive, barking or misbehaving) Gods honest truth… but I get it, even though laws on service dogs say otherwise about special pet friendly rooms or extra deposits are clear… I digress. Anyway we tried the browns canyon inn as a last resort and scored. It was after hours but the guy came out and was super polite and friendly. I flat out told him the amount I could spend and he worked with me no problem when every other place turned us away. He gave us a nice comfortable room, and was friendly the next morning to my daughter and our dog. Our little vacation in the town we live was finally looking up until we tried to leave and found a dead battery in the truck… I had a friend come to try to jump start our truck but it was a process and we spent some time working on it. I saw the owner coming out to see what was going on, “oh great “ I thought. “Here it comes , ya know.? But to my surprise he was super pleasant just wondering what was going on and if we could get it going . He joked with us and offered any assistance he could . We got it started shortly after and he came out again and wished us well. All together it was so much of a different experience in a good way, as far as things like that go. Down to earth and helpful.awesome place awesome owner and staff,...
Read moreWe stayed here over the weekend of February 21-23 because our kids bought us Monarch lift tickets for Christmas to use. Everything was fine at first. The man at the front desk was less than enthused when we rang the bell for service but it wasn't terrible. Then we noticed our door to our room did not shut all the way. Or, that there was huge gap and we could see the hallway through the shut door rather. I immediately went to the front desk and asked if we could change rooms, to which I was told, all the doors are like that and they're being replaced. I walked up and down the hall but I could not see a gap in any of the doors as large as the gap in ours. If you were walking by, you could just see inside our room. Thankfully, the wall that comes out where the bathroom sink is was enough to block where we slept. Beds were hard a rock and we did not sleep at all. The pillows were flat and felt like cardboard in them instead of fluff. NO idea what that was. The doors slamming about 500 times was a little annoying since it sounded like it was next to our ear since there were such huge gaps in the door. The hot tub was full of a lot of people. On the positive, the rooms were clean. There was a microwave and mini fridge in our room and we were happy to get to go skiing that beautiful weekend so it all worked out. The breakfast was ok. Lots to choose from. Nothing hot but you could microwave a burrito or make toast and they had a lot of cereal choices, fruit and pastry items along with juice, coffee, water and yogart in the fridge. We will never stay here again however, as there are many other choices in Salida that have...
Read moreWe had an excellent stay. There was a large group of us staying overnight between two meetings we were having Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The managers were very friendly when I called to make my reservations and then asked if we wanted a room on the first floor or the second. So accommodating! As each group arrived we were all greeted in such a friendly manner and as we filled up the small lobby talking with each other they continued to remain friendly and engaging. When we returned after our Friday meeting, many of us sat in the lobby for awhile and talked. There was no comment made about us doing so (even the lobby bird had nothing to say after we got back). The breakfast was nothing to write home about but was filling enough before we headed off for lunch before our meeting. The manager even made some pumpkin and banana bread for us (and any one else who was staying there). The rooms were clean and welcoming. Everyone in our group (approximately 10 rooms) were very happy with their stay. We are even talking about coming back just for a...
