Avatar Indian Grill — Restaurant in Salinas

This restaurant has a terrible owner. I respectfully asked him why was I being charged $4 instead of $3.50 for each naan when his menu card has it marked at $3.50 for each butter naan and he started saying that he can’t change anything as per system. I asked him why his menu card is priced lower (and all of them have a lower price)? I asked him if he is the owner of the restaurant and when is he planning to update the menu cards? He instantly started shouting and misbehaving and saying “don’t pay anything, just go”. The yelling started increasing the moment I wanted to calm him down so that we could have a meaningful conversation but quite honestly I have self respect that only allowed me to have a few more attempts and finally, I gave up on him seeing it go nowhere when he yelled at me to “get out”. I was with my father, mother, wife and child. All of us were aghast at this behavior from restaurant owner. I have been to many restaurants before, always pay handsome gratuities, give good reviews if I like it and many of them are good friends now because we treat each other with respect. Never in any country ever have I seen such a terrible restaurant management. If you are visiting this place, remember to match the menu card with your check. If you find any discrepancies do not ask any question or else stay prepared for the owner of the restaurant who would instantly start yelling and insulting you for asking legitimate questions. To the owner: Learn to understand first what someone is saying, see how you can solve the problem rather than blowing up the conversations to the point where no one wants to visit your restaurant. It takes lot to time to earn goodwill, very little to loose it by being rude and disrespectful....

tl;dr: DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. One of the most terrible experiences of my life to visit any restaurants in the world! I just trusted the original 4 rating on google and went there, but when I ordered vegetarian appetizer, it came with chicken in it. When I politely asked the old man who served us to take it away and make me talk to the chef, he laughed and said eat chicken. It hurts my religious sentiments and my personal choices. I mentioned that it's not his mistake because he just served us the food, but I wanted to make the chef understand that this is a big blunder. The chef came out laughing as if they did it intentionally and he just took the plate without apologizing. The old man who served us to whom I and my family were too respectful and polite started yelling at me and asked me to get out of the restaurant. He was so rude and mean. I wonder how is this place open in this remote town when the food, behavior, service, atmosphere is of poor quality. I am now reading detailed reviews from others and finding out that many people have reported similar yelling and getting out issues of this person (who appears to be the owner of that restaurant). Don't bother giving your money to corporate restaurant chains with 2 star food and try this amazing indian restaurant. I was once a foolish girl on my way to Panda to get my regular order of Orange Chicken. However, the line was too long and I was so hungry so I went next door to Avatar Indian Grill. Right off the bat, I noticed how clean the restaurant was and how kind the guy who took my order. I explained to him that I didnt know much about indian food and asked him for recommendations. He suggested a few items on the menu and I chose the curry chicken...it was so delicious! Please help and support your local small business. This is family owned.
