Sunshine's Donuts — Restaurant in Salinas

First, I live in Michigan -- and we take our donuts seriously in the Midwest. Sundays here are for church, football and donuts. You can stop being invited places if you bring lousy donuts. I got two dozen donuts for work, and let me tell you, this place is the real deal. It's a little hole in the wall, and three old guys in Navy Veteran caps were talking in the corner over coffee. This is definitely The Spot. You know, the spot where the old guys sit every day and complain about their grandkids and drink coffee. Anyway, these donuts are Midwest-quality, moist, fluffy deliciousness, and they get this fat Michigander's stamp...

After many attempts to find good donuts and friendly service in Salinas, my bf and I finally found Sunshine's Donuts!!! The gentleman that helped us (maybe the owner?) was very friendly and the donuts were so yummy! He didn't have any custard filled donuts available so he offered to fill the donuts with custard for us on the spot!!! The donuts tasted fresh and the coffee was good too. Plus they have other items on their menu besides donuts. We will definitely be back and we will also refer...

it’s true - everything about this place is high quality ! still the best donut i’ve ever had & i’ve lived in San Francisco, NYC, Los Angeles & Tokyo. Every time I visit my hometown I make sure to stop by my Sunshine Donut for that simple classic donut in a quaint little plaza in South Salinas. None of that hipster cereal or inventive recipes…. just pure nostalgic flavors. Super lovely owner too. Go & support this place, you’ll see why...
