Grassland Dessert Cafe is more than just an ice cream shop — it’s Lakeville’s new heartbeat. Owners Bill and Lorna have lovingly brought back to life the old Lakeville pharmacy, transforming it into a vibrant, joyful gathering spot that captures the spirit of small-town magic with every scoop. Step inside and you’re greeted by the warm smile of proprietor Bill Colgan, whose boyhood memories of the Skipper Dipper on Long Island inspired this delightful adventure. He’s recreated that nostalgic charm here — with a twist! Craving a classic? The Orange Freeze and Root Beer Float will send you straight back to summer afternoons gone by. Want something modern? Don’t miss flavors from Gifford’s Ice Cream, like the rich, espresso-swirled Campfire S’mores, or the wildly indulgent Sea Salt Caramel Cookie Crunch — the kind of flavors you can’t stop thinking about. 🎉 And if you’re celebrating — or just feel like going BIG — order the Everything But the Garage Sink: a jaw-dropping creation with 20 scoops of ice cream, piled high with toppings. It’s perfect for birthdays, school advisory groups, or a spontaneous family feast. This isn’t just a dessert stop — it’s a place where memories are made. Whether you’re a local or passing through the Northwest Corner, Grassland Dessert Cafe is a must-visit. Grab a cone, say hi to Bill, and feel the joy of community, one sweet bite at a time.

Very homely ice cream parlor scented like vanilla. Wrap-around porch for dining al fresco in season. Walk-up window for ordering on the go. Friendly staff and clean bathroom. Comfortable booths inside and free wi-fi. Gravelled parking in the rear for around ten cars.

Amazing place for desserts - ice cream, milkshakes, coffee and teas. Very clean, very bright and friendly. Fantastic new addition to the area.

I gave 4 stars even though I would choose 5 for one day and 1 for last night. I ran in a week or two ago and got an iced chai and the young lady was very friendly and everything was perfect. My husband and I went last night and he said he will never go back between the barely-there peanut butter sauce (after he requested a LOT and said he would pay extra) and the very rude customer service. Maybe I'll try it again myself and see how it goes. It's really a beautiful place otherwise so that experience was so...

Delicious ice cream and the place is very clean. However, the staff behind the counter could really benefit from customer service training. The young man did not greet me until I specifically asked for help, which left a negative impression. Management should focus on training their staff rather than simply leaving them at...
