After a long morning at the U of U fertility clinic, my wife and I stepped into Corner Bakery hoping for a quick, decent breakfastâand walked out pleasantly surprised by just how dialed-in this place is. The location is idealâliterally across from the Uâs clinicsâmaking it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal post-appointment or a pre-work bite.
Youâre welcomed by a calming, clean interior with classic cafe vibes: warm wood tones, iconic diner energy, and a laid-back pace that feels local. We were greeted immediately by a kind staff member who offered to warm our cinnamon roll (yes, itâs worth it) and even asked how many sets of silverware we neededâa thoughtful touch you donât often get at casual spots.
We ordered the Anaheim Scrambler and chose different sidesâoatmeal for me and fresh fruit for my wife. The oatmeal came with a dash of cinnamon sugar and was the real dealânot cheap instant oats, but full-bodied, hearty grains. The fruit was surprisingly fresh and ripe, with crisp grapes, sweet melon, and no filler. The scrambler itself was fantastic: fluffy eggs, well-balanced seasoning, chopped tomato and green onion throughout, and creamy avocado slices on top. Every bite felt both indulgent and light.
The food came out fastâimpressively fast, especially given how many other people were dining in. Our table was clean and well-lit, and there was plenty of space to settle in. We also noticed their shaded outdoor patio with string lights and comfortable seatingâhad it been warmer, we wouldâve enjoyed that spot for sure.
Corner Bakery also has a full pastry case at the front if youâre in the mood for a grab-and-go sweet. Our cinnamon roll was gooey, soft, and generously frosted. Pro tip: ask for it warmed.
Ample parking is available right in front of the restaurant, which is a nice bonus for a location this central.
Final take: this place nails speed, freshness, and hospitality. Itâs casual comfort food done rightâand the kind of spot that makes you want to come back.
5 stars. Would...
Read moreI came in to order breakfast while my daughter was having surgery at Primary's Children. They didn't have any over-hard eggs, so I decided to just get a croissant with no egg, but with ham, cheese, bacon, and tomato. However, they brought it with only bacon and cheese. So my wife asked the busser, who brought the food in the first place, to bring it back with no bacon, no tomato, and just ham and cheese. Now my wife went back to the busser to let her know, but the busser rolled her eyes and said she didn't have time to take it back to the kitchen. So my wife told her not to worry about it and that she would take it to them herself.
Then she asked a lady named Susan about the same issue, and Susan told her that she would fix it, but we needed to pay extra for the bacon, with an attitude. My wife got confused, and we were already frustrated, so I went back there to find out what happened. She told me the same thing, and I asked for my money back. That's when they finally slowed down and paid attention. However, there was a lady in the back, I believe she was a cook, who saved the day. She made the croissant from scratch and made it with love. 100 points for her, but the front people need to work more on customer service.
On another note we order orange juice and they give us a bottle, in my opinion that does not look good for a breakfast place. That tells me you don't have the time or even care about the customerâs satisfaction you just want to sell âorange juiceâ in the easiest way possible!...
Read moreDo not use this place for delivery or catering. We were ordering for a small U of U event. I called a few days a head with a few questions about their delivery options. They transferred me over to catering and put me on hold for half an hour. I gave up and called again. I told them we were confused about the catering menu as it seemed only for large groups (20 or more people), but they told me I could order from the menu individually. They did not specify they meant that for delivery, you HAVE to use the box lunch option on the catering menu because of health code issues. This was equally confusing because it seems you can order from their regular menu when you use grubhub delivery option online. I wasn't able to use this because I needed the delivery tax exempt. When I called to place the order finally the day before, I was told we HAD to order off the catering menu and they couldn't help us. We tried to fix the order looking off the catering menu, but their box lunch options were vague and didn't tell you what sandwiches you could order (It only says specialty sandwich but there is no menu listing their specialty sandwiches--they have a signature sandwich list on their regular menu but we were unsure if this was the same thing and if we could order off of it). In the end we decided they were too unclear and seemed not to care at all. So, we ordered from caputo's who were much more helpful and seemed to actually care about...
