We arrived and there was plenty of parking. No one was sitting on the patio area where the beautiful fireplace was so that's where we decided to sit. When we walked in we were immediately greeted at the front door and thanked for coming. Straight Ahead was the bar and although it was modest by size it was beautifully crafted and the dining area which is behind the host was spacious and beautiful dining table sets chosen in the restaurant matched the beautifully crafted establishment.
We made our way to the left of the front door onto the patio where are the fireplace sat at the and corner of the building. The patio furniture look uncomfortable but once seated was very pleasant. We were then greeted by our server who was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and drinks available at the bar. We ordered appetizers starting off with a cup of gumbo and crab cakes pan-seared. The dishes when they came out we're so beautiful I wish I had taken pictures of them but on top of the pan-seared crab cakes was crawfish and tomatoes in a lemon sauce with shoestring fried potatoes on top yum yum. The bowl of gumbo which we chose to get the combination had all the seafood you could imagine in it along with sausage which was so tasty along with the freshly baked bread brought out with it.
As we enjoyed our appetizers we've been decided to get entrees my friend got the herb crusted salmon with spinach and I got the chicken Victoria I believe it was called and it's set up the white rice that came with I elected to get the dirty rice. Both dishes once again when they arrived where are gorgeously plated once again sorry for no photos. I enjoyed my chicken immensely and tasting my friend salmon was equally as flavorful and pleasing. I have to say that all of the portions in this establishment are completely out of control. Meaning that my friend and I could have easily shared the cup of gumbo with the bread and the crab cakes as well as I believe 3 people would have gotten full off of each one of our entrees.
Finally for dessert we ordered the only chocolate dessert I believe that they had on the menu which was this huge brownie topped with vanilla ice cream then topped with whipped cream and strawberries. The combination of the cold cool ice cream and whipped cream strawberry and the warm almost gooey brownie was definitely a treat and once again two people easily would get full off of that maybe even three people. I would recommend this restaurant to any and everyone especially if you are a big fan of Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. Rumor has it that the owner of this restaurant used to be one of the cooks. But don't quote me on that either way I will be returning to this restaurant again and again and again with several locations here in San Antonio including downtown Riverwalk area and the Dominion you're sure going to want to stop into one of these locations, it's definitely worth it even if you're just passing through...
Read moreOn 8 JUL 2023 my husband and I went to this establishment for a date night.
My husband had the catfish meal & gumbo. & I has the red snapper. My husband said the gumbo was a 0/10. He said the catfish was “straight” but he doesn’t feel like it was cleaned properly. We eat catfish often, so he would know. I had the red snapper and it was 100/10. No complaints at all on the red snapper.
But let’s talk about the hair that was in our alligator. And the hair wrapped up in our silverware for a second… along with the non-existent customer service from the manager that came with it.
We ordered alligator for an appetizer. I’ve never had alligator before so was excited to try. However, I was unaware that alligator came with a side of the cooks hair. But.. it did. We let our waitress Dira know (whose customer service was a 0/10 like the gumbo). She asked if we would like to remove the appetizer or replace it…as if this was even a question. As we proceeded to wrap up our meal and pay, the alligator was still on our bill and the manager was requested to give our final overview of the experience and removal of the tainted appetizer.
The manager negated our request completely our request for audience and failed to even make a presence to address and rectify the situation as what was happening in the kitchen was more important than the paying customers satisfaction. We did however watch him interact with all other customers in the establishment in the midst of waiting to see if he would even acknowledge the mishaps on our order, but he did not. I’m not sure if he was embarrassed that it happened on his watch or if he just didn’t care but as a manager he dropped the ball and his silence to address us spoke volumes. The fact that we had to even ask for the manager after we had hair wrapped in our silverware and cooked in the alligator is beyond me!
We won’t be back. I’m a sucker for customer service and they did not deliver at all. Oh yeah, our drinks were perfect & strong though. So that’s always a plus.
And kudos to the hostess! Her customer service was impeccable & because of this we gave our tip to her. I wish I would have got her name. She was super sweet and took care of us as she saw fit whenever she...
Read moreMy husband and I love this restaurant so it was a no brainer to have our rehearsal dinner here. We usually patron the downtown location that has great customer service but our venue was closer to this location… no big deal right? WRONG! This particular location has the worst customer service from the server to the manager. We originally planned for 30 guest to come but only 20 showed. This was a Thursday night so the place was pretty empty. They required a deposit of $160 and we were told that the deposit would either go in a gift card or towards the cardholders tab. We also had a select menu of 3 items and a salad. The salad tasted as if the lettuce was never washed, like sand particles was on it. The food tasted mediocre which was disappointing because again, we’ve loved the food before. But the service… was the most disgusting. Our waiter Mark was extremely rude from the beginning. We didn’t feel welcomed at all. For the place to be empty and to have a selected menu he let us know that it was going to take a hour for him just to take our order and put it in so we needed to hurry up and choose. Someone had a food sensitivity and wanted to order off the selected menu, they denied her. The kicker was that at the end when it came time to check out. Because it wasn’t exactly 30 people the manager Eman felt as if they should keep the deposit that it now would not go toward the cardholders tab without letting us know. His conversation was extremely rude and unprofessional and as someone who has worked in management, I was completely shocked at his delivery and will definitely be reaching out to corporate. The realization of the situation was the restaurant was empty and they hadn’t had much business all day and so they wanted to make up for that with us. They totally disregarded creating a great customer experience so that a group like this could continue business with them. It’s not always about money, it’s about creating repeat customers. I will never patron this location again and honestly if nothing is done about this issue, we won’t be supporting this chain indefinitely. Mark and Eman YOU NEED...
