Jay's Cafeteria — Restaurant in San Antonio

OMG read the reviews so it convinced me to come by. I'm a truck driver and to find some authentic Mexican food is hard for us.im delivering at the San Antonio food bank about a quarter file away decide to take a walk to see if the reviews were correct. Honestly there food is the bomb 💣 so freaking delicious 🤤🤤. I wouldn't mind coming this way again. Very honest and friendly people which goes a long way. On this rainy day we pulled in to Jay's Cafeteria's pothole filled parking lot thinking it should be named The Greasy Spoon but no such thing. This place is clean in appearance and scent. It is cafeteria style so food is fast if you're in a hurry. I had a beef crispy and a country sausage in gravy taco in flour tortilla. The sausage was clean -something I'm very picky about- and the beef (picadillo) was homemade- tasty and clean too, nothing lacking there. The owners and staff were pleasant and welcoming. Don’t judge a book by its cover… This hole in the wall has been my favorite since the 1900’s. lol. When I worked at Kelly Field and did taco runs ;-) It’s my go to place to treat family from out of town. The owners’ hospitality and service has been exceptional all these years. When my son was a baby they would make him a special dish for him to eat. I’ll Never forget their care and attention.
